On tap at Faculty, pours a clear amber with a small white head. Aroma is restrained, with toasted bready malt and a hint of hoppy bitterness. Flavour is off, with toasted bready malt that collides with a harsh hop character in a very awkward way. Dry, lightly bitter, unbalanced; just very clumsy and incompetent. Not a good red ale.

On tap at Faculty, pours a hazy golden with a tiny white head. Aroma has… turmeric, unsurprisingly, with a relatively neutral base. Flavour has gently spicy turmeric with absolutely nothing else. Finished dry, lightly spicy, dominated by the turmeric. It’s clean for what it is, but how this become a mainstay of theirs, I’ll never understand. Pointless, unappetizing creation, unless you somehow adore turmeric and want to drink it.

5oz pour at brewery. Pours murky reddish pink. Flavour has raspberry jam, chewy malts. Flavour has raspberries, tough grass, bitter unripe finish.

5oz pour at brewery. Pours murky yellow with white head. Aroma has very gentle malts and turmeric (possible confirmation bias). Flavour has strained pale malts; turmeric is undetectable. If I thought of turmeric while drinking a good pale ale I would have a more enriching experience.

On tap at Alibi Room. Pours cloudy ruddy orange with off-white head. Aroma is floral with notes of grapefruit and pineapple. Flavor is similar with strong caramel malts. Rough but decent.

473 ml can. Pours a dark brown with fizzy head that disappears quickly. Aromas of brown and candi sugars, raisins, a little copper and toasted malts. Flavors of same. Not getting “toffee” though there are caramelized sugars. Sweet and a bit metallic.
