Medium haze. Light tan. Fairly phenolic nose. Maybe a touch of brett. Fermentation is a bit dirty, off sour, yeasty, some grape note but not hitting.

Dark colour, near black. It's not overly complicated, but it's a good mix of nutty dark malts with moderate sweetness, it's easy to drink, and everything is well integrated.

Draught at St. Augustine's, Vancouver
Hazy blond colour. Mild fruit character, very grapey, with the character of so called Brut beers; it's dry, the alcohol is warming, a bit astringent in the finish. No horseblanket, if that was the intention.
Nice beer, grossly overpriced.

On nitro tap at Foamers Folly, pours a clear orange with a small beige head. Aroma brings out lots of spicy cola notes upfront, with some candied sugar and Belgian yeast. Flavour is along the same lines, with intense cola spices upfront, and buried Belgian yeast. Totally inauthentic and not too pleasant either.

On nitro tap at Foamers Folly, pours a cloudy golden orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out floral hibiscus notes upfront, with a touch of strawberry. Flavour brings out Belgian yeast and bright strawberries upfront, with a touch of hibiscus. Loads of strawberries here, mixing with the candied sweetness from the Belgian yeast. Decent beer.

On nitro tap at Foamers Folly, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out dark roasted coffee upfront, accentuated by some lactose. Flavour is along the same lines, with moderate roasted malt, earthy coffee, and lactose, all in good harmony. Bold and balanced, though it does get a bit sweet after a while. Good stuff.

On nitro tap at Foamers Folly, pours a cloudy amber with a small beige head. Aroma is pretty murky and muted, with light earthiness, a hint of lime, and salt. Flavour is along the same lines, with muted lines, earthy malt, and salt. Tangy, lacto-y finish. This doesn't work.

On nitro tap at Foamers Folly, pours a hazy golden blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings lots of grape must, with some perfume, light oak, wine barrels and a bit of wild yeast. Flavour is a bit chaotic and perfumey, with some wild yeast, grape must, fusel alcohols, and some brett. A bit chaotic — those perfumey notes aren't too bad welcoming. Okay. I like the ambition, but it needs work.

On nitro tap at Foamers Folly, pours a hazy dark orange with a small beige head. Aroma brings out bright cinnamon upfront, with light carrot, caramel and some cocoa. Flavour is lightly vegetal, with toasted carrots, some caramel, and cinnamon. I suppose for what it is, it is executed okay, though it's too vegetal still. Classic carrot cake Vienna here.
