Description
Small dogs with big dreams. The Stray Dog Brewing Company is more than just beer; we represent the spirit of adventure and the courage to pursue the passions that enrich our lives. Many people choose to give up on their dreams because of fear of failure, but yearn for something more. Metaphorically, a lot of us feel chained up in one form or another. These chains can be the result of external forces or self-imposed. The symbolism of a Stray Dog is the will to break free from these chains and venture out into the unknown. It represents freedom and defiance of a life of confinement and taking the risk to do something great even if it means leaving the security of the current life you’re living. The road ahead is unknown, but you’ll never know what possibilities lie ahead unless you venture out.

Can from Flora Hall showing 6.7% ABV that pours a full hazy golden colour with an orange hue. Small cap, decent stay and some light lacing. Aromas of citrus with the smoothing oats. Almost feels like some lactose, farm-like, but the oats are working their magic. Some spicy notes as well. The flavours are fairly mild, well-balanced with nothing sticking out too much. Citrus zest, grapefruit and hints of mineral water. A refreshing milder IPA, reminding me of a hazy, juicy APA.

Pours a real dark brown, almost black, with very little copper highlights. The head is bubbly, frothy, mocha-coloured with decent retention and some foamy spots. Roasted malt aromas with some dark fruit notes and very mild vanilla. This bean is felt just a tad more in the finish, lingering softly on the tongue. Other than that, good strong burnt barley with well-balanced hops building some dryness in the end. Some coffee, hints of bitter chocolate. A good Imperial Stout that does not overload with the vanilla.

Slightly hazy, golden colour with an amber hue. The head is creamy enough with a warm cap, good stay and leaving creamy lacing. Caramel malt aromas at first with some grassy hops that do come out on top with time. The taste has this hop well balanced with the malts and alcohol. Lightly warming with the alcohol well-hidden, and some decent dryness. A little juiciness. Not a bad IIPA.

Hazy golden-orange colour with a frothy warm cap, decent stay and nice thin lacing. Citrus peel and light juices for aromas. Some nice spiciness, warming in the taste. Mild dry finish. Some good bitterness from the citrus zest. Not the juiciest NEIPA, so if you like some decent bitterness with that - here it is!
