Bottle: Poured a clear deep brown color ale with a medium size bubbly head with OK retention. Aroma of coffee and light black chocolate is a bit surprising considering the style but enjoyable nonetheless. Taste is also dominated by roasted malt with dry coffee notes with well balance chocolate notes. Body is about average with style with OK carbonation. A lot more character then I would have expected from a brown ale.

Bottle: Poured a light color amber with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of weird grainy taste with some gross sweetness. Taste is also off with gross butterscotch notes and some dry hops which don’t mix really well. Body is about average with oily texture and medium carbonation. The butterscotch notes are really gross and I had to drain pour this one.

A deep dark porter with a thin creamy lacing moka head. In aroma, again, the pleasant butterscotch, with roasted malt, a bit peaty and oily. In mouth, a nice and light porter with sweet chocolate, coffee, butterscotch and wood. Nice and light. On tap at brewpub, Oct. 10 2009.

A nice dark golden ale with a thin creamy off white head. In aroma, a nice biscuitty malt overlayed with British hops. In mouth, a nice ESB, with good biscuitty malts, a good dose of herbal British hops, very quaffable, herbaceous and piney. Medium bodied. On tap at brewpub, Oct. 10 2009.

Dark brown. Chocolate, custard and some nuts on the nose. Chocolatey, toasty body is fairly creamy. Nice and silky, creamy, even if the flavours are more straightforward than in the other Sea Level brews.

Brilliant orange-brown colour. Aroma of fresh crystal malt, toast, demerara sugar, earthy hops, whiffs of cigar smoke and olive oil...shall I continue? Toasty palate, with breadcrust, light demerara, woody/mushroomy/earthy hops. Moderate bitterness. Very well balanced, just gorgeous stuff.

Hazy golden-straw colour. Thin head. Very fresh pale malt with sublime lemony, almost gingery hops. Herbal, lemongrass hops and fresh-cracked pale malt on the palate with slightly toasty and caramelly earthy malts. Clean, fresh as the sea...just beautifully crafted.
