The first beer in a random tasting evening. 33cl Bottle (BBD of 07/2013) poured at home into a Duvel glass on 30/05/2013, very slowly, as I didn’t want to wake up the sleeping sediment. Still came out with a slight haze to its golden body, on top a white head, full but thin. Carbonisation bubbles rising through the body to replenish the fading head (and failing to do so). Having said that there was some good lacing on the glass as the beer level dropped. Yeasty and hop laden in the nose with a semi-sweetness from the malts, some spices (corriander mostly) too. The taste followed the aromas too the letter, just add alcohol and mixed basket of citrus fruits, both sour and sweet (oranges and lemons). Complex and tasty with that typical Belgian feel that Belgium’s brewers always seem to produce in their better beers.

28/IV/13 - 33cl bottle @ Zythos Bierfestival (2013-429)

Clear red brown beer, creamy beige head, pretty stable, little adhesive. Aroma: caramel, very chemical, chloride, bit sugary. MF: lots of carbon, light to medium body. Taste: caramel and mocha notes first, bit sourish, chocolate, spicy. Aftertaste: quite some chocolate, spicy, little bit of chloride, bitter touch. This beer was surprisingly interesting because the color does not suggest such a nice roasted and chocolaty flavours in the beer, nor did the aroma. Thus this beer new to surprise me in a good way. Now some more body and less carbonation and we're on our way to a (very?) good beer!

Note: I was a bit afraid that tasting so many beers on Saturday might have influenced my ratings, with me giving lower scores than normally. But this first beer on Sunday proved me wrong. Still a lot of very plain and boring stuff around.
Clear pale yellow beer, dense creamy head, pretty stable, non adhesive. Aroma: bit of chloride, metallic, citrus, bit herbal. MF: lots of carbon, light to medium body. Taste: pretty sour start, citrus, raw grains, grassy hops. Aftertaste: pretty bitter, grassy, citrus fruits, watery ending. Ok, but very high "meh"-content.

(bottle, 33cl) Hazy, golden colour with a blond mid-sized foamy head. Yeasty and mildly malty aroma with hints of citrus and present coriander spice. Moderately sweet flavour, medium to full bodied with a tame carbonation. Mildly fruity and malty taste, slightly wheaty with loads of spicy notes, mainly coriander; sweet malt-accented and spicy finish with a restrained level of bitterness. Rather mediocre and not so “different”. 6.I.13

75 cl. bottle sampled @ Modeste 2012 - pils malts and american dry-hopping if I remember the brewers explanation correctly - similar to their Hubke but I like this on more - now made by Au Phare - hazy golden with a white head - more aromatic citrus hops, fruitier yeast, grapefruit - mellow citrus taste, BE esters, pale malts, light touch of booze, herbs, bit fuller, more citrus than Hubske - ok but not entirely convinced - medium bodied
