On tap at Optimism, pours a jet black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out dry roasted malt, a little espresso and dry cocoa. Flavour is rich and bold, with lots of roasted malt, some powdered dry cocoa and a hint of espresso. Dry, but not too much, and a little astringency. Robust and well-constructed. Excellent.

On tap at Optimism, pours a hazy dark chestnut brown with a small beige head. Aroma brings out brown sugar, toasted caramel and light dark fruits. Flavour is very malty, with notes of dark stone fruits, toffee and brown sugar. Not all that sweet, with a dry bready malt finish. Nice stuff.

On tap at Optimism, pours a clear copper golden with a medium beige head. Aroma brings out herbal hops, biscuity notes and maybe a touch of diacetyl. Flavour is fruitier, with herbal hops, light stone fruitiness and biscuity malt. Fruity, bright finish. Not particularly exciting, but it works okay.

On tap at Optimism, pours a cloudy golden yellow with a medium white head. Aroma brings out lots of piney hops upfront, with a pronouncedly woody character, and dry biscuity malt. Flavour is along the same lines, with a woody and piney hoppy character that coats the palate. Dry, bitter finish, with some citrus in there. Nicely made but not particularly ambitious.

On tap at Optimism, pours a cloudy dark amber with a small beige head. Aroma brings out English bready malt, toffee and a little molasses. Flavour is likewise English in character, with toffee, light molasses and English caramel bready malt. Nicely constructed - you don't get this English strong ale over here often, but this is very nice.

Flavour is along the same lines, with notes of melon upfront, lightly piney hoppiness, and dry biscuity malt. Effervescent and bright, but not particularly deep or complex. Solid.

On tap at Optimism, pours a clear copper orange with a small off-white head. Aroma brings out pleasant notes of pepper, followed by crisp pear and Belgian yeast. Flavour is subtle and pleasant, with notes of pepper, Belgian yeast and light pear. Nothing particularly deep, but it's clean and balanced. Decent.

On tap at Optimism, pours a clear copper with a small beige head. Aroma brings out light biscuity malt, not much else. Flavour is subdued, with toasted biscuity malt and English ale yeast. Subtle and underwhelming, but clean and without flaws. Okay.
