Nice hazy orange coloured body with a bright amber glow and a nice thinnish off-white head - a very nice look and a good APA from the sight. Aroma of lightish hops (nothing strong), some caramel, floral scents and a touch of malt - nothing strong or overpowering about this one at all. Medium-bodied; Some hoppiness at first with a grapefruit and almost piney taste and a very mild and muted malt backbone with a subtle sweetness from apricots at the end. Aftertaste shows some very subtle hops as well, but a good well-rounded character and mild sweetness. Overall, not a bad beer in the slightest, and if anything, a bit too mild - but this style has been overlooked in terms of going far too hoppy and malty, so this is about right for the style! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Chevy Chase Wine & Spirits in Washington, DC on 15-February-2010, sampled at home in Washington on 03-March-2010.

Slightly hazy golden coloured body with a thin white head and a touch of orange near the top. Aroma of wheat, raspberries, grapes, coriander seed and probably pomegranate, although I’m not versed enough in that fruit. Medium-bodied; Deep pungent bitter fruit flavours with some potent wheat, a touch of sweetness and a lot of dry fruit tastes. Aftertaste is fairly bitter, and somewhat refreshing - a lot of fruit, but pungent and strong. Overall, a pretty standard fruity wheat beer - too strong in the flavours and not enough restraint in ingredients. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Chevy Chase Wine & Spirits in Washington, DC on 15-February-2010, sampled at home in Washington on 27-February-2010.

Pretty average orange tinted amber coloured body with a bit of a dense look to it and a very thin slightly off-white head. Aroma of honey, malt, a touch of alcohol and a light maple scent. Medium-bodied; Assertive sweetness at first with a heavy mouthful and a malty and caramel finish, not bad really. Aftertaste shows some caramel sweetness, some nuts, a touch of honey and a good dose of malt. Overall, a decent beer - I was expecting worse. The beer doesn’t have a bad taste, but there isn’t enough of the good characteristics for it to shine through. Regardless, good sugars and some decent complexity to render it a beer worth trying, actually. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Chevy Chase Wine & Spirits in Washington, DC on 15-February-2010, sampled at home in Washington on 26-February-2010.

Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy red-orange color with a medium sized creamy beige head. The aroma was sour caramel and maple and was a bit off. The flavor was sour toasted caramel with faint maple and a bitter harsh fruity hop presence. The finish was long, bitter and harsh. Eh.

Sampled on draft at Smokin’ Joe’s in Pittsburgh PA this beer poured a red-amber color with a medium sized head that produced good lacing. The aroma was sour toasted caramel. The flavor was sour toasted caramel, moderately harsh fruity hops and had a odd buttery undertone. The finish was long, rough, hoppy and buttery. Medium body. Not good.

Tap at Camp: Pours a pretty nice looking light amber with a frothy white head that lasts long enough for me to enjoy its presence. Aroma has definite floral hop notes, along with the obvious citrus element. Beer itself is moderately hoppy, yet very smooth. A bunch of citrus (lemon methinks) along with floral undertones. Easy drinking, and the high alcohol content is definitely a plus when ordering it at a bar and paying 6 bucks (fortunately my bartender fed me a few free ones... hehe). Solid beer, although the ’organic’ in the name is kind of pretentious.

12oz bottle pours deep nearly clear copper with weak tan head. The aroma is a cup of coffee and dry coffee grounds. The first swig is very nice bringing in modestly dark roasted coffee moving into chocolate, burnt malts and a touch of sweet caramel candy. It just stays that way into the finish where the coffee holds on deep into the after taste. I like this. The caramel and chocolate notes really make the whole thing come together.

Nice clear amber with a full white head that lingers and leaves a coral-patterned residue and lines the glass. Crisp malty aroma. Medium mouthfeel. Taste lacks complexity with some earthiness.

On tap at Churchkey, Washington D.C. With so little information about this I wasn’t really sure what to think. Pours a transparent orange, amber with a frothy, lacing white head. Aroma is pretty big but not aggressive: grapefruit, caramel sweetness, some biscuit, some berries. Long, bitter, sharp finish was a bit of a surprise. Flavors of caramel, sweet malts, oranges, lemons, sticky, resin. Surprisingly nice, a touch too bitter on the end.

Draught at Spuyten Duyvil, New York
Hazy amber color; creamy persistent head. The aroma is too simple, light cereals and malt. It has medium body strength, malt flavor, a bit on the dry side; the oats give a pleasant but very light touch. Ordinary.
