Description
The site where Coteau Rougemont now stands was first settled in 1816. It quickly became known for its fertile soil as well as the quality of its crops, livestock and forest products. In 1883, it became home, albeit briefly, to Quebec’s first agricultural school.

In 1935, after having changed hands a few times, the estate was sold to the Oblate fathers. In 2006, it was acquired by Claude Robert, an entrepreneur originally from the Rougemont area, putting the vast orchard and its 40,000 trees under the control of the Robert family.

Tasting at Ryan's, bottle
Pale red colour, clean, no head. The aroma has some fruity candy elements. Mild but pleasant apple juice flavour, which is better than most BC ciders, at least there's that; mild sweetness, soft mouthfeel, mild acidity, moderate berry juice. Not elegant, not complex, but it's pleasant enough.

750ml (thx, Mathieu A.!) @ Ryan's shared with Faress and Alex. Appearance: copper with some rose notes. It looks lile an ice cider. Aroma: quite heavy baked apples, some apple seeds, raspberries, sweet and tart. Taste: it tastes like a significantly watered-down ice cider with raspberry notes. Overall: ok.

375ml (thx, Mathieu A.) @ 🏡. Virtually shared with Ryan, hehe. Vintage 2014. Appearance: clear dark copper. Aroma: very nice sweet red apples with some acidity, caramel. Taste: very thick, one of the thickest I've ever had probably, very sweet too, some acidity. Caramel and toffee. Round and smooth. Overall: very nice one, I would wish to have a bit more acidity here to balance the sweetness, however, the product is very nice in any case.

Bottled at the RBESG 2023 grand tasting, enormous thanks Gene! Golden body. Sweet perry aroma, simple as that. Sweet perry taste, peppery, smooth, ultimately fairly one-dimensional, but lovely nonetheless!
