Not so bad at all. Big ass 16 oz can. Roast and some coffee. Black pour with decent light mocha coloured head. Light bitter end. Can.

Can from 7-11. Floral, herbal hop nose. Honey malts. Nice hop flavor, herbal, floral, with a good crisp bitterness. Not too sweet, surprisingly. Pretty nice and a pleasant surprise.

Tap at a Kuala Lumpur Japanese restaurant. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a mostly lasting frothy off white head. The aroma is roasty malt toffee caramel. The flavour is moderate sweet, with a biscuit, dough, sweet caramel palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Can from Jusco. At ¥150 it is probably the cheapest all-malt beer in Japan. They seem to have trouble keeping it on the shelves, so let's see if it's worth going back for...Lemony hops in the nose, slightly herbal too, bready malt, light stone fruits. A bit mild, but nothing wrong with it. Medium golden color with a low head. Flavor is a bit thin, bread, crackers, very light hopping, a bit of citrus, touch of minerals. Thoroughly inoffensive. The finish is light to medium bitterness, with some peppery hop flavor. Body is light, just a bit thin. A mild and simple beer, but perfectly drinkable and way better than most of the crappy happoshu that sells for around the same price.

Can from Lawson. Thin, watery gold with a high head. Light grassy hops and malt in the nose, a bit thin, some adjunct notes. flavor is sweet, grainy, watery, not a lot of hops either. A rather typical pale lager, and I am not really sure where the extra malt went. It's inoffensive but not very good.

I had it as: Premium Yebisu Kohaku Ebisu Premium Amber 5.5% Crystal clear reddish orange amber color with a dusty light beige topping of foam. Caramel and toe jam aroma. Medium to light bodied and dry with crackery malts and caramel. As you drink the beer comes together more and improves. Kind of rough but passable.

330ml bottle. Crystal clear, dark yellow-ish to orangey, golden colour with average, thick, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, snow-white head. Grainy and strawy, pale malty aroma, soapy overtones. Taste is slightly dry, soapy hoppy, grainy and strawy malty, very subtle sweetness. Watery texture, smooth and soft palate, very fine, slightly prickly carbonation. Very clean, monotonous, but balanced and quite drinkable - not a black-out.

Tap at the Sapporo Beer Museum. Rather deep golden amber, clear, with a low, thick head. Nose is rich, creamy, bready malts, honey, lemony hops. Rich, malty flavor, very creamy, with a big, pillowy body. Quite fascinating really, and delicious. IT is very malty and rich, with a crisp, herbal bitterness and a tiny bit of diacetyl that does not become tiresome. This is like a real German export lager. Great.
