Medium brown with a golden-brown colour. There is a fair bit of barrel - strong woody - notes but also a lot of toffeeish malt notes. It picks up some fairly rough bitterness, definitely that rich toffee molasses note, but I’d say the brett c doesn’t show through that much. I’d argue it’s a touch thin, despite its sugars, but otherwise has it’s a nice old ale.

Bottle - Lots of raw wood. Cloudy copper with a decent beige head. Bitter and woody with some plum and a long finish. Woody bitterness is a bit much.

Hazy, amber, with a thin head. This has a big woody character, with vinous accents, and definitely brett. On the palate, the wood is really heavy, the brett still there, and while there are sweet malt characteristics, none of this is really coming together in this beer.

750ml bottle (thx, Alex G.!) shared at Brian’s office. Pours a hazy amber with a tan head. Aroma is bretty, woody, winey, fruity. Same taste with a quite high bitterness. Not bad.

On tap at Vices & Versa, Montreal on 4th July 2017. Hazy amber with almost white foam and full lacing. Spicy, yeasty aroma. Rich and intense spicy hoppiness in-mouth with tart apricot and plum notes. Nuttiness in evidence - hazelnut. A very satisfying bitter finish. Full-bodied with an engaging mouthfeel. This beer is exquisite.

Bottle: Poured a deep brown color ale with a quite large off-white foamy head with OK retention and light lacing. Aroma of caramelized sugar with fruity ester and oak presence is somewhat unique and enticing. Taste is a great mix of caramelized sugar notes with some fruity ester, light funky notes with some residual sugar notes and string oak presence. Body is quite full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol notes. Lacking some balance overall but interesting though say the least.
