On tap at brouwers pours out a amber color. Nose is pit fruit which malts some wood and a little bit of the wine barrel grapes. Taste is more of the sweet Pit fruit malts some grape notes I guess that comes from the barrels.

Tap at the Bainbridge. Hazy dark orange with a thin white head. Aroma is quite dank with lots of pine and citrus fruit. Flavor is quite nice. Bitterness is a little high but the grapefruit seems to cover it a bit. Good.

Draft pour to a tulip at Hellbent, Lake City. I usually try to avoid ordering guest taps at a brewery, but when you’ve had everything they offer, and there is a damn good sounding Barleywine on tap, you make exceptions. Just the name, Chocolate Toe Jam. I’m in. First sip, zero regret. Dark brown, almost black pour with a fading head. Heavy milk chocolate, sweet cream aroma. Some dough. Flavor is extremely chocolate heavy for the style, but it’s clearly what they were going for. Rich caramel, milk chocolate, and an almost almond like lingering finish. Snooth, with no boozy feel to it really at all. Has hints of dough, but not enough to bother me like some beers I’ve had in the past. Extremely enjoyable, drinkable, and well put together. A total winner here.

Deep muddy reddish brown. Full tart berries with earthy, oak, slight vinous notes. Finish is light vinegar with strong sour fruit tones. Medium to full body. Very nice.
