Description
GBC started as a contract brewery in 2011. In 2018, Scott assumed majority ownership and completed extensive renovations on our facility with the generous help of extended family and close friends. In early 2021, Isaac West joined the Brewery as the brewmaster. Since May 2021, we have a new General Manager, Nathalie Lavergne. We are pleased to provide a beautiful and inviting atmosphere, quality craft beer and friendly service to our community of Gananoque and the surrounding area in Eastern Ontario.

Draft - Light citrus tartness and some soap. Hazy yellow with a rich white head. Citrus tartness, some light berry notes and a veery clean finish. Really nice and mellow.

Draft - Sweet caramel and grapefruit hops, candy floss. Hazy gold with a decent beige head. Sweet caramel and candy floss hops with a bitter bite to the finish. Sweetness is tamed by bitterness which makes this a pretty decent IPA.

And the last of the three Gan beers that I had at Pizzeria Libretto that I emailed the brewer to figure out their regular name. Thank you Bruce from Gananoque for actually answering a beer-geeks email. Apparently, "Stagionale (Pizzeria Libretto listing for this beer) rotates but this week it is our Remarkable Session Ale" (guess their official name can be light or session. Depends how hipster you feel.) So be aware that this rotates, if it’s Stagionale Rye this is the right beer, if not Rye than maybe not. ’Nuff said. Pours a very cloudy golden with a fluffy white head with lacing. Smells of yeast nose, bready notes and malt. Taste some up-front bitterness, breads and flat malts. Acerbic after taste, which is where the bigger rye flavour appears.

I’m apparently "That Guy" the one who emails a brewer to figure out what beer Pizzeria Libretto’s Forte really is. The answer? It’s Bell Ringer IPA. Pours a lightly cloudy orange with a thin white head that breaks down quickly with lacing. Citrus with plain hops smell. Tastes: citrus hops, mild general malts, some cream, some smokiness in the finish. Could see myself spending some time on the patio with this fella.

Alright you know you’re a little obsessed with beer when you email a brewer to figure out what the proper name for a restaurant-branded beer so you can rate it. But then again if you’re reading this, you’re probably that guy too. Cheers, ya drunk! Pint at Pizzeria Libretto branded as Organico. Ooooh what a fancy Italian name. Pours a clear golden with a fluffy finger-ish of white head that leaves lacing. Smells mildly of doughy yeasts, and bready malts. Taste is mild malts, soft fruits, and unimposing hops. Meh.

6-pack from the LCBO. Pours a clean light golden colour with minuscule particles floating around, as beer is partially filtered. Big frothy white head, good retention and some nice creamy lace. Fresh malt aromas with a hint of hops. The taste is quite grainy with cereal notes and the grass showing a little more. The bitterness is more present than a macro lager, but very well-blended with the malt. A very good micro lager that is refreshing for those who like the Steam Whistle. Nice and grainy.

A golden lager with a thin white head. In aroma, a crisp biscuit malt with grassy character, mineral notes, German hops, OK. In mouth, a crisp malt with German hops, light and honest, but nothing special. On tap at Bens pub, Kingston.

Pours brown with decent head and lacing. Decent malt profile with crisp finish and decent bitterness from light hops at finish. Good for a mild ale. On tap at C’est What Craft Beer Festival.

Pours golden with little head or lacing. Smells a little rank. Taste sours after a few seconds. Another run of the mill lager. Why bother? On tap at Victory cafe.
