Tons of coffee. Serious coffee bomb. Lactose is heavy, and dark chocolate. Some cinnamon. Overdose of coffee makes this less sweet than you'd think given other ingredients. Black oily pour with decent head. Tangy and bitter finish. Some vanilla, but drowned out by other ingredients. Can.

Perfectly clear golden coloured body with a faint, single to perhaps two centimetre tall pure white head that fades relatively quickly, but the filtered clear glow is a bit disappointing. Aroma of wheat, pungent yeast, bread, coriander seed, light curacao, some full oranges and a dash of light sugars - very nice. Light to Medium-bodied; Assertive grassy and herbal notes at first that show some very light spices like coriander seed and allspice, but the majority of the flavour is from the wheat and light biscuity malt noticeable along with some light sweetness. Aftertaste is dry, but very wheat-focused with some coriander seed, more of an orange flavour and a dash of candy sugar and pure fruit-based-sweetness. Overall, a nice and fairly dry completely filtered hef with some herbal notes, a good deal of sweetness and a bready bite that shows almost more than the pure wheats. Not my favourite, but again, a nice one to sample considering the heat index today here in Washington was over one hundred degrees Fahrenheit. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Whole Foods in Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia on 27-September-2019 for US$3,99, canned on 17-July-2019, sampled almost exactly a single year later at my house here in Washington on 20-July-2020.

Original Rating:
Very dark brown coloured body with a light brown glow when held at an angle - more clear than I was expecting, all with a relatively thin one centimetre tall rich brown head. Aroma of raisins, smoked peat, vanilla, molasses, soy sauce, grain, oatmeal, figs and a tiny dose of coffee. Medium-bodied; Rich roasty flavours at first with a lot of smoked peat, vanilla, earth, prunes, plums, raisins and especially molasses, caramelised sugars and some strong bittered coffee and light metallic notes and astringency. Aftertaste is relatively complex, with the prunes, raisins, fig and pitted fruit flavours showing over the oatmeal, grain and roasted malt, with a little lactose and vanilla at the tail end. Overall, a good imperial porter, but not great. Already thin, while sampled fresh and the flavours are a touch astringent and pungent, so aging should help those out (but make the body even worse, of course). I'll see this one goes as I have three reserved for subsequent years and aging cycles, but I don't think this one will improve too much. Nice-ish to try, but as a Pole, Zywiec Porter is still such an amazing beer to try to emulate, this doesn't come close. I sampled this sixteen ounce can, purchased from Whole Foods in Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia on 29-May-2020 for US$3,99 (canned on 09 December 2019), sampled at my house here in Washington on 02-June-2020, just four days after purchase. I'd say currently (fresh) this has a pungency of 8/10...let's see how this does in a a few years.
