A small bottle from their brewhouse, drunk at home here in Taipei; labelled ‘India[n] Pale Ale’. Aroma: restrained citric, vaguely hoppy. Appearance: a very lively pour, semi-opaque oxtail soup, lots of beautiful little bubbles rising, an enormous cap of tan cream. Palate: medium-bodied and slick, average carbonation despite the froth; finish is rather astringent. Taste: lightly bitter with astringency, no real citric flavour, though plenty of pine, a little bit of biscuit. Quite refreshing.

A small bottle from their brewhouse, drunk at home here in Taipei. Aroma: very nice, chocolate - specifically Cadbury’s cream eggs! Appearance: a foamy pour, opaque Americano, lingering rocky tan head. Palate: medium-bodied and noticeably tart on the tongue; finishes rather abruptly. Taste: lightly sweet, chocolate and some coffee. I’m not sure what to make of the sour flavour - on balance I think it’s thumbs down. Nice aroma though.

Singapore holiday - day 10/13, at the Brewhouse near Napier MRT, a pint draught. Aroma: freshly-mown hay, very inviting. Appearance: clear light amber, one finger off-white cream, beautiful tiny bubbles rising. Palate: medium-bodied and slick, average carbonation; long well-hopped finish. Taste: lightly bitter, biscuit, a hit of tonic water; a very refreshing beverage.

330ml bottle from RedDot, Dempsey Road. Poured a murky dark brown colour with a lasting frothy off-white head. The aroma is big toasted coconut. The flavour is moderate sweet, with a smooth, somewhat light, rich, roasty, light coffee chocolate, herbal, light liqourice bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with soft carbonation. Rather moreish despite being rather light.

Bottle at RedDot, Dempsey Road. Poured a slightly hazy medium amber colour with a lasting frothy white head. The aroma is malt and toffee caramel. The flavour is moderate sweet, light bitter, with a smooth, rich, malt, toffee caramel, floral, woody hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation.

330ml bottle from RedDot, Dempsey Road. Poured a mostly clear golden colour with an everlasting frothy white head. The aroma is herbal and light malt notes. The flavour is light bitter, with a light, somewhat watery, light fruity, big chamomile herbal, floral palate. Medium to light bodied with average to soft carbonation. This won’t be to everyone’s taste.

Bottle at the Dempsey Road taproom. Poured a crystal clear golden colour with a lasting frothy white head. The aroma is yuzu with floral notes. The flavour is light bitter, with a crisp, juicy yuzu, light herbal, light hop bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation.

The flavour is moderate to light sweet and liqourice bitter, with a smooth, rich, roasty, chocolate, lactose, light liqourice bitter finish. Over medium bodied with soft carbonation.
