Description
The story of Bear Republic, like most other craft brewers, begins with homebrewing. It was the spark for our passion to create quality, hand-crafted beers. We are a family-owned brewery, located in the heart of Sonoma County, California. The company was established by the Norgrove family in 1995, with Richard G. Norgrove as brewmaster.

After 11 years of rapid growth, we opened our Factory 5 brewery in Cloverdale, California, where we brew and package all our beer that goes to market. We hand select our ingredients for each batch, the grains and hops we use are chosen for their unique characteristics and the recipes and formulations are patiently developed over time. Many recipes start as a home-brew and then develop into the commercial beer available in many retail outlets today. We pride ourselves in using our established methods while always looking to improve efficiencies and techniques that allow us to provide quality beer to share with the world.

Beginning 2023 thw brewery was acquired by Drake’s Brewing.

This 12 oz can came to me from Half Time Beverage earlier this year. Utilizing a globe glass this evening, I make the pour. I see a relatively clear, gold colored liquid finished by a persistent head of creamy white foam. I smell citrus, grain, yellow fruit and honey. The taste is a straightforward, basic IPA style. A nice hoppy front end, apricots, cereal, malt, some grapefruit and a touch of toffee sweetness. Very decent, an easy to appreciate IPA.

Can to snifter.
Appearance: dark brown close to black in color with a quarter finger of eggshell white foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: dark malts, big roastiness, black coffee, caramel & toffee malts, milk chocolate and dark chocolate
Flavor: blends the prior noted aromas to a fine roasty to semi-bitter quality with a touch of sweetness underneath; finishes roasty and black coffee-like
Texture: medium bodied, good as a sipper; some smoothness but also some roasty assertiveness
Overall: nicely done imperial stout worthy of having again.

Can to tulip.
Appearance: burnt orange to copper color with a two finger white foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: sweet grassy hops, tropical fruity hops and a light grapefruity hop note with some clean malts
Flavor: blends the prior noted aromas to a fine bittersweet semi-juicy but malty arrangement; mild finish of tropical fruity tones
Texture: medium bodied, leaning towards being a sipper, some smoothness but also some hop bitterness and a touch of dryness
Overall: good as a DIPA but to truly say a "New England" styled one might be stretching it a bit.

0.355l can. Aroma of mango, passion fruit, citrus and resin. Pours hazy golden color with thin frothy off-white head and soft visible carbonation. Taste starts juicy overripe tropical and stone fruity with herbal notes, following is resinous, bready and medicinal, while finish is heavy bitter. Full body, oily texture and lively carbonation in palate. Better results expected for such a prominent racer…

Half pint can at Kura’s Krafts, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a hazy golden orange colour with a mostly lasting frothy white head. The aroma is malt, light tropical citrus. The flavour is moderate sweet, light bitter, with a smooth, somewhat rich, juicy citrus, toffee, earthy, warm, light woody hop bitter palate. Over medium bodied with average to soft carbonation.
