About
Weyerbacher Brewing was founded in 1995 in a livery stable located in downtown Easton, Pennsylvania. Eventually outgrowing that small space, we made the move to the 30,000 square foot facility that we still call home today.

Since the beginning, we have established a reputation for making big, full-flavored, high quality brews. While predominantly known for Belgian-style brews including Merry Monks and QUAD, we have an extensive barrel aging program which produces fan favorites including Insanity and Riserva. In recent years, we’ve dipped our toes into IPAs and other lower ABV styles with great success.

Experimenting with different ingredients and brewing techniques, our brewers continue to stretch their creative minds and develop interesting and mind blowing beers that will satisfy your taste for the extraordinary.

Overall a relatively uninspiring IPA. +++Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer pours a hazy copper color with a small white head. The aroma is flowery and hoppy. The flavor is bitter with a little bit of grapefruit. Relatively mild and definitely lacking in balance. Smells better than it tastes.

The aroma is sweet spicy with notes of cloves, prunes, and raisins. The color is dark amber and it has a small orange head. The flavor is very sweet and very warm with notes of malt, caramel, raisins, and plums. A wonderful beer.

Bottled. Dark black with rich creamy head. Fruity aroma of tobacco, plums and dark chocolate. Sweet with rich, soft maltiness. Pleasantly hoppy with salty, bitter finish.

Thanks to alcfron for the trade. Pours almost black with a medium thin dark beige head. Thin but sticky lacing throughout. The aroma is like a raspberry truffle. Rich and creamy body with very little carbonation, the flavor consists mostly of raspberry, dark chocolate, coffee and toasted malt. The finish is very creamy and not overly fruity. The alcohol is well-hidden as well. Not much to complain about here other than it being a little thinner than I prefer, still this is a solid Imperial.

A good beer when fresh but an absolutely incredible one when it has a few years of age on it. I have aged cases of this one for up to 7 year and at it’s peak it stands up with the best from Belgium. +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer pours a dark bronze color with no head. The aroma is sour and fruity. There is a thick texture with an alcohol burn - reminiscent of a smooth cognac. A hearty malty flavor with a strong touch of maple follows. The alcohol burn is a bit pronounced on the finish. // update 8/2007 - I just tried a 4 year old bottle of this one and after having aged it is up to the standard of any Belgian Quad I have encountered. 8/4/10/5/20

2004 Draught @ Sunset Grill. Good drab brownish-tan color, very hazy with some light yellow tinges. Small creamy off-white head. Looks very thick and creamy. Aroma of bananas, bubble gum, sticky caramel, and a hint of alcohol. Flavor opens up with a lovely sweet malt flavor growing lightly bittersweet and a touch estery (medium dark fruit). Lightly chewy feel to the body, which seems to start out full. Everything going well, but then, I dont know if this stuff had sat on tap too long or what, but it just fell apart. Body breaks down and starts to get loose and watery, a sharp, astringent alcohol flavor destroys all balance and is very unpleasant, like the esters went bad, creating a spoiled fruit flavor. Sharp/sour mouthfeel exacerbated by a thin finish. Dead, watery mouthfeel. I tend to think this stuff was just sitting around too long, especially as there was no carbonation left in it. I'll have to try this in bottles and rerate.

Slim yellow head, fed by a viscous-looking carbonation; dark amber beer with hazy deep-red shine. Fruity nose, syrupy, raisins, alcohol (not overpowering), very vinous. Vinous taste, grapey, some choclate, acidity just overwhelming the malt. Fruity character becomes apparent again, dark fruit as prunes, plums. Alcohol, and (bitter) chocolate returning warming up. Fiery alcoholburn; syrupy, like malt-syrup. Sour-sweet fruitiness throughout with a bitter edge. Great balance - and as other raters said, one for the ageing.

Rusty-amber beer, heavily carbonated; amber-orange head. American hops, coloured malts, old portwine and fruity esters. Taste is pure caramel and preserved fuits. Lots of alcohol, fusels included. Slick mouthfeel, oily and alcoholburn. Very good BW, just short of exciting. Impressive beer all the same.

Pours clear orange-red/brown with a thin off-white head. Has the familiar Weyerbacher banana aroma with chocolate and yeast notes as well. Very rich body touching on banana, tart dark fruit (cherries), grapes and chocolate. Alcohol is very noticeable and perhaps a tad overbearing. The somewhat syrupy body finishes bitter and slightly astringent. An interesting beer packed with flavor that would be better if the alcohol wasn't so "hot."
