Pours dark red-brown, with a thin tan head. Sweet, sugary aroma leads to a rather one-dimensional sweet, sugary body with dark fruit flourishes and nutty hints. Thin-bodied. Comparable to Boulevard Nutcracker or Goose Island Christmas Ale, but falls short of those beers in terms of complexity and character.

Nice chocolate nose. Dark black beer. Bitter chocolate with some fruitiness but i cant say its raspberry. Very good.

Crystal golden in colour with tons of small bubbles-no head at all. Aroma of wheat and a bit of spices. Medium-bodied; Harsh astringent taste-not very pleasant. Aftertaste bittered from the medicinal taste. Overall, a very rare beer to try-but the bad results were expected as they haven't made this bottle in a long time! I found this twelve ounce bottle at R.F.D. in Washington and it is probably one of the last places to find this one. I sampled this beer on 28-November-2003.

Effervescent, slightly hazy apricot colour with a thin, white head. Aroma of plastic, alcohol, mango, pineapple skin, rotting oranges, caramel. Body is fairly alcohol, obfuscating some of the other notes that I was hoping would carry over from the aroma (well, not all the aroma notes were desirable, but some were). Apricoty notes emerge before the alcohol gets too overbearing, alongside more plastic and a fair bit of treacly and caramelly malt. Finishes alcoholic and plasticy. I've found those kinds of flaws in Weyerbacher beers before, and it's too bad because generally I like this brewery.

Medium red/brown color clear, no bubbles small lacing and a small off white head. Smells of rich brown bread, dry caramel malt, and lots of alcohol. Begins with lots of even caramel malt which turns into a nice raisin/hops flavor. Very dark fruit undertones. I am very impressed with the depth of flavor without any bottle conditioning. Good raisin, slight plum sweetness. Dry finish, a bit of roasted barley. Nice grainy aftertaste.

Thanks to Darkover for the trade. This beer is a copper/orange color with a medium thin off-white head and thin lacing. Aroma is a lightly floral hops and citrus. Medium body with a piney and citrusy hops flavor that is somewhat bitter throughout. The finish is clean and a little creamy but with a hops bite on the back. This is a decent IPA but falls just short of being truly memorable.

Bottled. Dark black with very rich brown head. Chocolate and coffee aroma. Full bodied, hard black malts gives a touch of acidity, yet a velvetty mouthfeel prevails. Coffee finish.

Sampled at From The Vine monthly beer tasting Oct 13th, 2003: Reddish-amber color with a medium thin off-white head. Very thin lacing. Weak malt and caramel aroma. Thin-to-medium body with a sweet malt flavor, along with a light hops presence lingering around. I thought this would be a little more robust given the ABV. The finish is mostly malty with a little fruit and hops thrown in. Barely average overall.

No thanks. A unique twist, eh? Aroma is cerealy, sweet malt. Body is clear and copper-colored, with a thin off-white head. Flavor is a confused medley of cereal, sweet fruit, and wet socks. Has a somewhat bitter, confusing aftertaste. Doesn't resemble the Oktoberfests I'm familiar with.

The aroma is hoppy sweet - a pretty simple aroma. The color is an unclear orange and it has a fine but disappearing head. The flavor is very dry and hoppy with no sweetness to balance it.It is too hoppy and dry for my taste even though I love IPA's - this one tastes like sucking on fresh hops. A somewhat weird beer.
