Bottle. Thanks Bursprak! Pours dark dark red with a pink fuzzy shortlasting head. Aromas of dark cherries, grain, slight leather, almonds. Taste is dark sweet cherries, slight horseblanket, almonds, vanilla, slight vinegar. Very nice!

28 April 2019. At Zythos Bierfestival. Cheers to Anke, 77ships & tderoeck! Hazy black, very thin, tan head. Aroma of chili, red bell pepper, fondant, coffee roast, roasted nuts, black olive. Taste is light malty sweet, a bit chocolatey & toasty, quickly overthrown by a heavy spicy bitterness that carries red bell pepper & habanero accents, some fondant & coffee roast, building up a big chili burn into the dry, peppery hoppy finish, more ‘pure’ coffee bean in the back, some warming coffee liqueur-like alcohol. Medium body, oily texture, fizzy carbonation. Too spicy for my liking.

27 April 2019. At Zythos Bierfestival. Deputy Taster: Anke. Cheers to Ama Deke, Erwin, John & Meeki! Hazy dark brown-black, lasting, thin, frothy, beige head. Aroma of vanilla bean, dried cherries, wood, almond, fondant, ‘carré confiture’, old tea bag. Taste is light malty sweet, nutty almond & toast, sour accents of cherries & brambleberries, some vinegar, bitter tones of wood, earth, tea & ‘raw’ vanilla bean, a bit yeasty, leading to a dry, herbal & earthy hoppy finish, where nuts, cherries, almond & yeast linger; alcohol remains well-hidden, perhaps hinting at Maraschino. Medium body, oily texture, fizzy carbonation. Not too shabby, certainly interesting, but could have used more punch in the taste.

28/IV/19 - sample @ Zythos Bierfestival 2019 (Leuven), BB: n/a - (2019-629) Thanks to nathanvc, 77ships & Anke for sharing today's beers!
Clear dark brown beer, small creamy beige head, pretty stable, non adhesive. Aroma: caramel, nice roast, coffee, cocoa powder. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: lots of chillies up front, alcohol is very noticeable (maybe because of the chillies), lots of roasted flavours, more alcohol, lots of chillies. Aftertaste: all chillies, with some alcohol and a soft roast. Chillies are too overwhelming, and people who have eaten spicy food at my place, know what that means… :p

Black with thin head. Aroma and flavour have a lot of coffee and roasted bitter malts. Silky mouthfeel.

Session IPA made by Malterfakker for a variety of charity initiatives (other beers in this project will follow), brewed at Jandrain-Jandrenouille. Snow white, membrane-lacing, regularly shaped, creamy, stable head, lightly hazy golden blonde robe with greenish tinge and vivid sparkling, shifting to a cloudy, more yolk-yellow blonde with sediment. Aroma of lime flesh, fresh leek, dry white bread, green apple, cereals, straw, green bell pepper. Cleanly fruity onset, notes of apple, unripe melon and green banana, restrained in sweetness with a thin sourish undertone, crisp, vivid minerally carbonation but acceptable for the intended style I suppose; simple cereally pale malt sweetish body, quickly drenched in a ‘weedy’ kind of hoppiness, lightly citric but primarily floral and ‘green’ – grassy; bitterness establishes itself fairly late but lingers for a while. Hoppy Belgian blonde rather than a true session IPA, but relatively well-bodied for its modest ABV and very drinkable.
