Description
Brewery Faisan is bringing beer making back to the Islandview neighborhood on the very street where beer was historically brewed in Detroit. Located on a quiet industrial stretch with a wooded area across the street, 1087 Beaufait Street offers the feeling of being Up North in the city. Following the path of an old rail line further north about 2 miles on Beaufait Street, the old moniker for Pfeiffer Brewing Company, closed in the 1960s, can still be seen on a warehouse face.
Brewery Faisan is a microbrewery and taproom with a focus on Belgian-Style beers. Guests will be invited to enjoy snacks, food truck fare, or bring in food from other businesses while they enjoy the beer in the 2,000 square foot taproom with a view of the 4,000 square foot production brewing space.
Paul & Rachel look forward to serving you soon!

On tap at HopCat Livonia (though labeled as "King Elder" at HopCat). Pours a hazy copper with a white head. Aroma is... freezer burn? I think that's the rye. Light dark fruit. Flavor is kind of odd, rye I guess (again a little freezer burn-like), yeasty, red grape. It's interesting, but I'm just not a fan.

Slow's draught, 11/30/24. Dark, clear. Neat, hazelnut head. Cola, mild licorice, hints of cacao and finally good yeast character with strongly herbal, almost minty hops that complement the chocolatiness well. Clean, very malty with pretty good attenuation, great yeast character and excellent, but not overdone hops. Wow, to think I've been passing up these guys all these years and thus is my first experience with them. If their other beers are even close to as well-done as this, I should be trying them all.

Can from Faisan. Pours a ruby red copper with a finger of off-white head that dissipates. Toffee, toasted caramel, dried honey and fig on the nose. Good carbonation on the palate with red fruit, honey and more caramel, toasted malt. There is some bitterness that balances out some of the sweetness on the palate. Lingering dryness on the finish with a sweet rounded note as well. Enjoyable.
