Description
In 1853 Jean-Théodore Piedboeuf started brewing. The company mainly developed after 1905 under the impetus of Henri Piedboeuf and his brother-in-law Albert Van Damme. Through the years the company grew strongly through acquisitions. The Piedbœuf brewery merged in 1988 with the Artois Brewery in Leuven to form the Interbrew group. In 2004, it merged with Brazilian brewer Companhia de Bebidas das Americas (AmBev) to form the InBev company. In 2008 it merged with Anheuser-Busch, creating the Anheuser-Busch InBev group. This group has four breweries in Belgium, including the location in Jupille, which was renamed Brasserie Jupiler.

25 cl bottle at The Lunchbox, Antwerp. It pours clear pale golden with a foamy, off-white head. Aroma is iron filings, loquat, apricot and apple. Not bad for a zero alcohol. Medium carb, medium body. Not very crisp, but nicely bitterish. Long-lasting finish with hints of porridge. I know that here in RateBeer non alcoholic beers score very low, but we must score (IMO) according to the style, and this is a good example. Actually, I consider this better than the alcoholic version.

Smell- weak, quite non existant. Bit later have some off tones, metallic tones. Foam- thin, large in mouth, some very faint non-alco notes, some biting bitterness, but weak. Head is medium, creamy white color, sticks to sides. Appearance- clear orange, yellow amber, carbonated. Taste- weak bitter notes, weak citrus, some malt maybe. Aftertaste bit of that biting bitterness, but something is odd, you get some offputting sweetness with nonalco notes. Not the worst non-alco beer, bull is nice on can.
