Growler pours clear mahogany with ruby red hues and thin tan head. The aroma is sweet with plums, sugar coated raisins, spicy oak and sweet plums. The taste is smooth as silk and nearly velvety with notes of black licorice, spice, spicy oak, plums, brown sugar and cinnamon dredged apples wedges, molasses, floral hops, spicy hops and some solid roastiness in the background for good measure. Man! Lots going on here. But it comes across with flavor harmony. Excellent variant. I hope I can try the non-oak aged one day.

Many thanks to JoeMcPhee for sharing this - man, this is a pretty pour - viscous, black, dark tan head - cinnamon is very prominent in the nose, as are the chillies, but there are notes of dark chocolate and vanilla - full mouthfeel, soft carbonation - the flavor is rather smoky up front, followed by fairly potent chili pepper spiciness - sadly, the chillies also add a fairly pronounced vegetal character through the middle - bitter dark chocolate and cinnamon generate a quality similar to mexican hot chocolate - the spice from the peppers last through the finish, and a mild tartness and astringency develop - I want to love this beer, but I simply like it.

Solid IPA. Average, typical IPA appearance. Aroma is strong and hoppy, while the flavor too is strong - yet not overpowering. A nice, bitter, lingering hop aftertaste. Good beer.

This marks my 300th rated Florida brewed beer. I am glad to mark this occasion with such a stellar beer. Who would have thought two years ago such amazing beer would come from the beer wasteland of Florida. Thank you Joe and Wayne for not only bringing amazing beer to market but also possibly inspiring others to push beyond the tepid waters of thin hot weather swill.
This Apple Brandy Barrel Aged treat was served up on tap at CCB at the mini grand opening. It pours inky dark soul-less void with thin tan mocha head. The aroma carries pleasing and inviting notes of sweet Brandy moving into some oak, roastiness, mild black strap molasses and dark chocolate. The taste is velvety smooth with pure dark notes of highly roasted malts to burnt malts as well as velvety rich dark chocolate. In a supportive role assertive notes of caramel, vanilla, oak and sweet Brandy bring this together in palate warming harmony. Amazing balance. Very nice.

On tap at CCB at the mini grand opening. It pours inky void with forever mocha head. I mean I let this sit for over an hour before drinking and it still had plenty of foam left. The aroma has robust notes of bourbon, oak and a lighter amount of straight up bourbon booze. Well behind those barrel notes are dark roastiness and dark chocolate. The taste is rich and velvety and pervasively barrel forward for sure. There’s boozie bourbon, hints of vanilla and robust oak covering up mild background notes of dark velvety chocolate and dark roasted malts. It is hard to believe the barrel was able to overcome this much malt roastiness from this batch of Zhukov’s, but it did. Personally I’d prefer a bit less barrel time but this was a tasty experience.

Pours caramel color with light tan head. Aromas of caramel, raisins, brown sugar and some spices. Sweet raisin flavors with lots of toffee and a good dose of hops. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Very sweet but no cloyingly sweet. A nice dessert beer.

Black, and a thick, lacing head. Aroma has some soy sauce, which I enjoy. Low carbonation, which is also fine for the style. Lots of roasted malt but also some sweetness with coffee and just a little chocolate and red meat. Very thick on the palate.
