Flesje gedronken bij B. en H. Roodbruin bier met stevig schuim. Aroma is koffie- en karamel-achtig. De smaak is zoetig en karamel-achtig. De nasmaak heeft ook de koffie en karamel smaak en blijft best even hangen.

33cl Bottle from Beerwulf. Black colour, beige head. Aroma of pine, some grapefruit, coffee, roasted malts, some caramel, quite soft all. Flavour is medium sweet, roast, pine, light citrus, caramel, tobacco, bitter hoppy finish. Light bodied, firm carbonation. Decent but not very outspoken.

0.33 l bottle from 'Sterk Avondverkoop', best before April 2019. Clear, dark orangeish amber with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, off-white head. Sweetish, fruity-floral, slightly resiny aroma of orange jam, ice tea and some pine. Slightly sweet, moderately bitter, fruity-floral and slightly resiny taste of orange jam, ice tea, some pine and a touch of apricot, followed by a short, moderately bitter, slightly resiny and minimally herbal finish. Almost medium-bodied, smooth and gently effervescent mouthfeel, average to lively carbonation. Like a British Lager, very pleasant beer!

Flavor is light moderate bitter, light caramellish sweet. Light to moderate bodied. Moderate bitter finish. Clean and pretty authentic German tasting.

0.33 l can from 'Het Biermoment', best before July 2019. Hazy, orangeish amber with a medium large, foamy, almost stable, white head. Sweetish, fairly fruity and a bit grassy aroma of lots of passion fruit, mango and orange with traces of pine. Moderately sweet, minimally bitter, very fruity, intensely juicy and a little grassy taste of massive passion fruit, orange, mango and a touch of papaya, followed by a short, just slightly bitter, a bit grassy and minimally resiny finish. Thin to medium body, smooth and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft to average carbonation. Very nice beer for a warm summer evening, really juicy and quaffable.

One of the barrel aged variations on Birds' vanilla imperial stout, bottle shared by Craftmember. Irregularly edged, moussy, pale greyish beige, opening head over a black beer with hazy burgundy edges. Aroma of indeed peated whisky and even iodine but not so overpowering that it blocks other aromas, of hot chocolate sauce, caramel candy, pipe tobacco, vanilla beans, walnut oil, dried fig, leather, cinnamon, coffee grounds. Sweetish onset, candied fig and dried plum with a light cured meat-like umami edge, soft carbonation, thick and full, viscous, oily mouthfeel. Thick nutty malt body, caramelly and black chocolate eventually drenched in outspoken peated whisky including retronasal iodine, but feeling quite 'natural' and less medicinal than is so often the case in stouts aged on peated whisky barrels; the bittersweet black chocolate effect and adequate hopping dominate the finish along with warming alcohol. Exemplary for its specific segment, departing from an already accomplished imperial stout and with a clever, not too over-the-top dosage of peated whisky aging.

0.33 l bottle from 'Sterk Avondverkoop', best before May 2019. Clear, golden amber with a massive, dense, stable, white head. Sweetish, fruity-grassy, floral and a bit yeasty-spicy aroma of lemon peel, hay, some clove and a touch of dill. Moderately sweet, slightly bitter, grassy, yeasty-spicy, moderately fruity and slightly floral taste of hay, crackers, lemon peel, clove and some dill, followed by a medium long, gently bitter, fairly dry, rather yeasty-spicy and moderately grassy finish with hints of alcohol. Medium body, quite effervescent mouthfeel, average to lively carbonation. Nice Saison, just a little too boozy to be really refreshing.
