Description
With a foundation in homebrewing in 1992, Paul Kavulak set about to experiment within a hobby that would prove both entertaining and, at times, refreshing. Over a period of roughly 13 years, and with the able assistance of his wife Kim, this activity led to the opening of the Nebraska Brewing Company’s brewpub in Shadow Lake Towne Center in Papillion, Nebraska, on November 17, 2007. A new production brewery and taproom were opened in January of 2014. Located on the south side of the Omaha Metro, but still a large part of the Omaha Craft Beer scene.

Can/Fest. A- Stale, watery. A- Pale yellow color, clear liquid, white head. T- Stale, water, corn, skim milk. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, unbalanced finish. O- One of the worst beers I've had in a while. It's not even on Untappd or on Nebraska's website at the moment. Probably because it's embarassingly bad. Hard pass.

Bottle picked up from Beer Republic Webshop, Breda, Netherlands had this at home Saturday 14th January listening to Craig Charles Funk and Soul show on 6Music. We had Kitchari (a Dhal) for tea. Pours hazy brown with an off white head. Aroma is whisky, caramel and dried fruit flavors: taste following a similar pattern but the barrel ageing is a little too forward and heavy molasses, caramel, sticky dried fruits but ultimately too boozy which really detracts from my enjoyment.

12 oz. can from HEB in San Antonio, TX. Pours a crystal clear dark reddish-amber color with a small khaki head and poor retention. No lacing. Sweet vanilla and caramel aroma. The taste follows the nose: Sweet caramel and vanilla flavors, resulting in a maple syrup flavor. I'm not tasting any chocolate and very little graham, so not much of a smores flavor, but a good vanilla brown dessert beer anyway. Medium-light body. Very low carbonation. Zero bitterness. Semi-slick mouthfeel.

Older bottle from Webb Chapel in Dallas. Wine glass back at the bnb. Beautiful, stiff, lumpy, eggshell head. Clear, dark yellow/pale amber. Melty chardonnay grape & oak nose is amazing. A little bit of white pepper flair from the yeast. Silky, oaky, rich, buttery, very slight acidity, soft bread, still runs hot, a little cloying. Tasty but so very difficult to drink alone.

Super deep dark and brown coloured body with only a very small lighter brown and deep tan head that barely shows at a single centimetre and leaves nothing on the sides or up top after a few seconds. Aroma of molasses, brown sugars, pitted fruits, dates, a bunch of hearty spices showing canella, anise, allspice and some fennel as well, with a dry rye and grainy note of malt near the end, seemingly quite strong, especially to be picked up in this style. Medium-bodied; Very strong molasses, brown sugar, caramel, toffee, treacle and raisin notes up front with a big sweetness from pitted fruits and some earthiness as well, with a supportive malt body of course and some vanilla, milk chocolate and earthier, fairly rustic notes soon afterwards with a kick of alcohol still noticeable, but slightly tempered, it seems. Aftertaste shows a lot of sweetness and relatively earthy notes with a noticeable amount of rye and specialty grains in the malt bill at the very end, but the sweetness then comes over and overtakes the spices with the vanilla, lactose, cream, chocolate and figs the strongest here at the end. Overall, a very nice and robust beer that probably has lost some body of course, but the complexity and nuanced notes along with the lighter alcohol burn and more rounded notes seem to have done this beer well - I believe this is a good stage to drink this one, and perhaps in another year it might be a bit better, but with only one can of this, I'm thinking that when I bought/drank this was near perfect. I sampled this (the best ever) full open top, twelve ounce can, purchased from Hy-Vee in Omaha (Papillion), Nebraska on 07-October-2019 for US$3,49 sampled exactly three years after purchase on 07-October-2022 at my house back here in Washington, and canned on 08-January-2019 with the tagline (maybe) 'DragonsInTheWild' on the bottom.

Draft. A- Light, peach juice. A- Yellow color, cloudy liquid, white head. T- Peach nectar. P- Light body, thick texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- Pretty weak aroma and even the flavor a bit. Had a natural peach flavor just wish it was stronger. Decent!
