Fruity bitter floral beginning. The hops are earthy and dark, the body is very dry with malty hints. Refreshing-dry, malty and smooth. Nice bitter sticky aftertaste with earthy piny hop-oils. Nice.

Sherry barrel aged barleywine, from a 75 cl bottle shared by Trevor at Ster’s place, cheers! Off-white, moussy but quickly dissolving head over a hazy amber-tinged bronze beer. Aroma strongly oxidated, ’rusty’ and even vaguely chicken soup-like oxidized malts, with this effect further reinforced by the amontillado effect - resulting in a very sherryish nose, as promised on the label; other impressions include dried apricot, apple peel, tomato juice, cereals, olive oil, pepper and a dash of wood. Sweetish-and-sourish onset, candied peach mingled with old pear and a touch of olive oil, soft carbo, slick and bit vinous mouthfeel but feeling lighter than your average 10% ABV barleywine; a light-footed caramelly malt body fills the middle, with some drier cereally side notes. Evidently and expectedly very sherryish finish with a drying woody touch but most of all an explicit sherry flavour with spicy accents and liqueur-like, sweetish and warming alcohol. Interesting beer but a bit too heavily concentrated on the old oxidized sherry character for me personally.
