Description

Hotel tasting with Colin Theydon Bois. Hazy pale amber beer, good size off white head. Palate is airy and slightly over carbonated. Light caramel malts, little papery floralness. Whisper of sweet citrus. Light crisp finish. A bit sweet and messy but not awful.

330ml bottle. Clear, dark brown colour with late awakening, average, thick, creamy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Roasty, dark malty aroma, minimally grassy, citrusy hoppy overtones, vague hints of coffee. Taste is slightly bitter, roasty dark malty, citrusy and grassy hoppy overtones, a nuttily touch, some coffee. More Black IPA than Imperial Stout IMO.

keg at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 25/09/14. Hazed orange amber with a well appointed off white covering that retains. Nose is citric peel, light soap, straw, bitter orange, yeast esters. Taste comprises yeast esters, citric rinds, straw, earthy, light spice, hint of vanilla, bitter orange. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok, ticks the style boxes but and arrives at a pretty simplistic representation of the style.
