330ml bottle. Murky, orangey golden colour with small, frothy, rapidly diminishing, off-white head. Smoky aroma, some TCP, sulphur, sticking-plaster, cautious fruity undertones, maybe peach. Taste is minimally tart, fruity, subtle (honey) sweetness, smokey notes, oak ashes, a touch of TCP. Slightly unbalanced, inharmonious.

Bottle. A huge, creamy beige head forms over an unclear, brown body. The aroma is very chocolatey, with coffee notes, a bretty touch and something reminiscent of cooked vegetables. It’s very effervescent, rather thin on the palate, and quite dry. Some cooked vegetables, coffee and roasted malts in the aroma. Cocoa. Warmth as well, lasting for a while. Cocoa, cooked vegetables and roasted malts in the finish. Not very good this one. 150328

Bottle from Bert’s Bierhuis Biltstraat, BB 01/2016, large sample. Hazy golden color with an enormous rocky off-white head. Aroma of peppery yeast, clear ginger and basil, slight citrus. Bit fruity sweetness in taste, quite dry, some grainy malt, bit bitter. Quite interesting combination. Ginger and basil seem to work together great and fit saisonesque peppery yeast. Quite high on carbonation. Pretty nice actually.

(Draught at In De Wildeman, Amsterdam, 28 Feb 2015) Reddish amber colour, slightly hazy, with dense beige head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of red fruit, rye bread and orange peel. Malty, fruity taste with rye bread, citrus peel, grapefruit and a balanced citric bitterness. Almost full body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty and well balanced for its strength. Nice one.
