Many thanks for this bottle to kappldav123. This one poured a darker brown with a beige head. Aroma was of chocolate, caramel, and verry, very sour. Significantly exceeded expiration date???

My last beer of the 2014 Berlin Green Week: I always finish off in Hall 12, where the everything id dedicated to German beer and food. There are normally about 30 different breweries within that hall, each selling a few brews of their own or a small selection. This dark brown brew was poured into a tall badged glass from the tap and it looked a picture. The smoky aroma and taste took me back to Bamberg even though this was brewed in Saxony. A great example of the style, like a smoked ham or bacon in flavour and with that same smell too. This is mid-strength when comparing with Bambergs better Rauchbier choices and it suited me fine. An ideal beer to finish off a wonderful day and evening tasting food and drink from around the world.

Draught at green week. Light brown with a minimal head. Aroma is peaty whiskey. Flavour is dominated by peat, warming and a bit of malt, but mostly whiskey.

And just another hard to find beer out of the kappldav123 box. Big big thank you! 0,33 l swing top bottle with a pseudo old school british lable art work. But it looks good. Pours black and oily in the glass. Brown short living head. Dark berriefruits and toffee on the nose. Starts creamy, light berriefruits sourness, coffee, chocolade. Later malty. And definitive smooth and easy to drink. Yes!

Ich sage "Vielen Dank an Kappeldav für dieses Bier"!
Der Geruch ist ganz leicht rauchmalzig. Der Antrunk ist ziemlich flach mit leichter, rauchiger Note. Im Hauptteil wird das Bier etwas vollmundiger und einen ganz kleinen Tick süßlicher. Dazu mischt sich eine sehr sehr dezente Rauchmalznote zusammen mit einer angenehmen Röstmalzigkeit. Der Nachgeschmack ist eine angenehme Komposition aus angenehmer Herbe und leichten Rauchtönen, die mir aber zu sehr im Untergrund bleiben. Auf der Zunge bleibt eine angenehme, aber mir etwas zu flache Note aus Rauch, Malz und angenehmer Herbe.
--> Mir ist es insgesamt zu "flach auf der Brust". Die Aromen könnten allesamt etwas stärker ausgeprägt sein. Aber für ein sächsisches Rauchbier doch schon ganz lecker!

Vielen Dank an kappldav, der mir diese tolle 1l-Flasche besorgt hat.
Das Bier im Glas ist orange-trüb, grobporig und riecht etwas malzig-brotig. Der Antrunk ist voluminös-interessant. Malzig-herb-säuerlich. Spannend. Zum Hauptteil hin entwickelt sich eine merkwürdig-muffige Note, die aber mit dem malzig-leicht brotigen Grundton und der Herbe ganz nett harmoniert. Im Nachgeschmack kommt eine eindeutige Rauchmalznote hinzu. Unverkennbar. Dieser "Schinkenrauch"-Geschmack hält sich mit dem restlichen Aromenmix aus leicht muffiger Herbe und merkwürdig-brotigem Malz recht lange auf der Zunge.
--> Interessantes Bier - mir aber zu unausgewogen im Geschmack. Viel zu viele Aromen, die nicht so recht zusammen passen.

Malzig-trockener Geruch. Der Antrunk ist leicht süßlich, aber auch angenehm malzig-herb. Zum Mittelteil hin wird das Bier erstaunlich herb-malzig mit einer ganz leicht trockenen Note. Dabei auch ganz leicht süß. Der Nachgeschmack ist lang anhaltend malzig-herb mit leichter, röstmalziger Süße. Dabei auch frische Hopfentöne.

The beer starts malty and not too sweet. Nice liquorice-aroma that becomes more intense in the mainpart. Not too bitter, but the bitterness fits in great. Hints of roast that are combined with the liquorice to a great full mouth-feeling. The aftertaste is long, intense roasted with a quite dry finish.

Der Geruch ist süßlich mit leichtem Honigtouch. Hat was von Underberg in süß. Im Antrunk gibt es sich sehr süffig; honig-süßlich, weich, CO²-arm. Honigkräuterbonbon in nicht ganz so intensiv. Der Honig harmoniert gut mit dem Malz, tolle Kräuternoten. Im Nachgeschmack kommt zu der süßen Note eine leicht scharfe Herbe hinzu. Langer Nachgeschmack nach Kräutern.
--> Interessantes Bier. Sehr zu empfehlen & sehr lecker! Was ganz anderes!

Bottle looks really good. Beer in the glass dark black, nice head. Wonderful malty-smokey aroma. Starts fine malty, intense smokey, notes of bacon without being too much. Some earthy-woody hints. Finish wonderful balanced. A bit less smokey, warming malty. A great beer!

Bottle looks really, really good. This beer is a heller bock barrel aged for 6 months in glenmorangie barrels. Beer in the glass brownish, small head. Dry malty aroma. Starts strong, alcoholic-sharp, dry-malty, dusty. Modest moldy. Finish still sharp, a bit earthy-woody, alcoholic aftertaste. A bit boring-malty. I still thats the worst of the Gourmet Beer series so far.
