Not sure I'd class this as brown beer. Subtle hoppiness

Bottle at home. Clear golden color, full sized white head. Aroma is malts, lightly herbal and somehow it reminds me of freshly cut wood chips. Flavor is malts, hayish a bit, herbal bitters. Lightly dry aftertaste, decent to medium body, average to medium carbonation. Hmm ok beer, but the herbal notes don't really work for me.

Bottle shared with Keukeman. Clear golden color, medium sized white head. Smell and taste malts, lightly honey, sweetish, slightly yeasty. Overall pretty ok. 7-4-7-3-14

Gekocht bij BakskeBier in Appels/Dendermonde op 16-12-2018. En thuis geproefd op 16-2-2019. Rangsken is een helder en blond biertje dat bij het uitschenken een overvloedige hoeveelheid wit schuim produceert in een rotsachtige structuur. Het blijft stevig aan het glas kleven en blijft redelijk stabiel, na een tijd heb je nog steeds een laagje van een 5tal mm. Er is evenwel geen pareling merkbaar. Het aroma van Rangsken is wat hopbitter met wat citrus en abrikoos, graanmout en wat koriander. De smaak is licht hopbitterig met nog wat abrikoos en banaan, wat graanmout en wat koriander. In de mond geeft Rangsken een medium body met een bitterdroogje en een stoffige textuur. De koolzuurprikkeling is ook normaal te noemen. Een harmonieus biertje. De nasmaak vloeit uit en is eveneens wat hopbitterig en zoetig met een zeer licht droogje nog, ook wat banaan en graanmout zijn nog te onderscheiden. Hazy medium golden colour, tall creamy white head, fairly lasting, light lacing. Aroma banana, honey, caramel, butter. Taste light heavy sweet and light bitter, malty, honey, caramel candy, banana, flowery hops, alcohol notes. Somewhat harsh notes in the aftertaste, medium body, creamy texture, nice classic blond.

The second beer by the man who created Rangsken, an ordinary Belgian tripel; this one is a honey beer with a name playing on the old Chuck Berry song. At Bierproeverij Nieuw-Namen. Thick, cobweb-lacing, snow white, frothy head over a lightly hazy yellow golden beer with very slight greenish tinge. Aroma unfortunately – and like Rangsken itself – suffers from a lot of DMS (overcooked broccoli), disturbing more elegant notes of green banana, indeed honey, grass, raw potato, white bread, butter, powder sugar, freshly cut apple, bubblegum, unripe pear and lemon candy. Sweet, cleanly fruity onset, red apple and green banana impressions, hint of chewing gum esteriness, medium carb, slick and somewhat creamy mouthfeel. White bready maltiness supports indeed a noticeable honey sweetness as well as a touch of lemon candy; hop bitterness remains soft and grassy, honey sweetness lingers without becoming tiring or cloying and a slight gin-like alcohol warmth shows up at the back, but perfectly in place. Simple, straightforward Belgian style blonde honey ale, sweet but not overly so and in that sense not badly done, just a shame for the DMS which this brewer can’t seem to get rid of…

Bottle from a Carrefour in Ninove. Pours clear pale golden with a small, foamy, white head. Straightforward aroma of yeast, citrus, bitter hops, spices, bread, some pineapple. It tastes light bready/malty sweet and light to medium spicy bitter; dry, hoppy, yeasty finish. Medium body, slick to creamy texture, fizzy carbonation. In terms of distribution I'd say this is rather unique, but the beer itself is completely run-of-the-mill.
