12 oz can. Pours a dense black color with a big foamy dark brown head that has fair retention. The aroma is quite strong with dark chocolate, vanilla and a bit of whiskey barrel. The taste, like the aroma, is chocolates, vanilla, coconut and whiskey barrel. The palate is full and smooth with soft carbonation. Finishes long and semi-sweet with some lingering woody barrel aftertaste. Overall: Very nice RIS, would love to try this in a blind tasting alongside one of the greats.

12 oz can. Pours a dark brown color with smallish beige head that quickly vanishes. The aroma is mostly caramel, butterscotch, oak barrel. The taste is big with caramel, sweet toffee, maple and butterscotch. Bitterness is secondary with black walnuts and barrel woods. Palate is full and viscous. Finishes long and sweet with lingering sweet caramel and woods. Overall: Nice--We see so few barley wines here that it is a welcome change of pace.

Can with a code, but nothing that can be construed as a date, drunk 8/4/25.
Glassy, pale brass-bronze. Large, off-white head, moderate retention.
Certainly well-hopped and expressive of the Hallertauer. A big, fresh herbal bouquet rounded out by honey-like malt and a bit of bread/biscuit. Clean. Smells a bit overly malty, not so crisp and snappy/mineralesque on the finish. But it's not always easy to translate the nose to flavor....
Does sort of translate that way, however, as big bread and sweet honey notes immediately collect on the palate, on the finish. There's some bitterness, not a lot, and just not as much crisp, snappy, lager character and overall dryness as I'd prefer, on the finish. Malts are a bit muddled/doughy, as well. Beer is clean, though.

12 oz. can, pours jet black with a dark brown head. Aroma is intense as hell, with huge coffee, gentle coconut, dark chocolate, and some bourbon — that’s massive. Flavour is rich and complex, with intense bourbon, huge coffee, a touch of coconut, and dark cocoa. Wonderfully blended, huge bourbon depth, and dark coffee. Wonderful.

16 oz can. Aroma has notes of coconut, dark chocolate, nuts, coffee. Pours inky black with a half finger tan head with decent retention. Taste is fairly sweet with flavors of good chocolate and coconut first and foremost, followed by nuts and coffee. Great velvety mouthfeel.

Draught @ Dive 96 Bar, Manhattan NYC. Extremely hazy ochre-yellow with a foamy off-white head, citrus peel-mango aroma, adequate carbonation, mildly bitter citrus peel-grapefruit taste, smooth body, long finish. Decent NEIPA.

12 ounce can - dark ruby, nearly black - nose is heavy char, maple, cinnamon, vanilla - thick, chewy mouthfeel - the maple from the barrel and the cinnamon dominate - underlying notes of caramelized sugars, treacle, dark fruit, the faintest hints of oxidation - I think there might be a pretty good barleywine hiding under there, but it’s hard to tell.
