Description
The Obergärige Hausbrauerei Uerige (top-fermented craft brewery) is not a museum, but an exceedingly modern food business where a craft rich in centuries of tradition is carried out. It goes without saying that the Reinheitsgebot, or Purity Law dating from 1516, is still adhered to, because its results are good and lasting, relying, as it does, on nature as one of its main factors. Which is exactly what we do, too: our yummy droplet is made of nothing but water, barley, wheat malt, and our Uerige yeast.

Bottle from my Summer Secret EuroSanta. Malty aroma, caramel, grainy notes. Tastes the same as aroma, medium bitter. Medium to fullbody, malty caramel bitter finish. Very good.

Many thanks to Erzengel for sharing! A hazy dark amber beer with a small off-white head. Aroma of caramelish malt, reddish malt. Taste of caramelish malt, intense spicy hops, reddish malt, long bitterness, good!

Bottle by courtesy of the brewmaster directly from the tank. Smooth and mild soft beginning. hints of sourness, very smooth and easy to drink. The yeast is soft and refreshing, very smooth soft and slightly sourish. Fantastic moderate bitter in the end. Great stuff!

Bottle from Londis, Kinghton (Leicester). Mid-brown, translucent with almost no head. Roast chestnuts, hazelnuts, biscuit spread, caramel. Sweet, nutty taste initially with some sweet ans warming spices. Turns to an intense leafy hoppy bitter on the finish. Chocolate bitters and more hazelnut in the aftertaste. Light to medium carbonation lifts the full, syrupy body. Quite special.

Can from Bruisin’ Ales. Pours rather opaque brown with a transient white head. Aroma is lightly roasty/malty, but not coarse like in an APA. Med body or so. Flavor is definitely lightly roasty malt, but very smooth, and whatever the hop is doesn’t clarify things. It is bitter, maybe somewhat earthy/herby. I wish I could describe it better. Noble hop? It is very pleasing and tasty.

Bottle. Pours mahogny with a huge and thick off white head. Powerfull maltiness and reisonous hoppiness dominated this beer. Good, but altbier?

I honestly don't have a clue what the hell I'm supposed to be drinking. RB lists Jron Grunhopfen-Sticke as an alt, but it has the up-front citric bitterness of an IPA obliterating any of the subtleties of the style. Instead you get hops, pumpernickel bread, apple, and a weird yeasty/floral finish that's not altogether enchanting. Yet it's not not enchanting either, what with the unexpected swipes of pine and grapefruit, the mellow caramel undertones, the prolonged hoppy fade. Can't figure this pint out. Looks good, though, pouring a murky brown with a lasting white head and good lacing. And the creamy texture's a dreamy, oily and slick and pillowy. Overall a bit incongruous as to what it wants to be.
