Description
The Champigneulles brewery was founded on June 20, 1897 by Antoine Trampitsch and Victor Hinzelin under the name of Grande brasserie de la Moselle de Champigneulles-Nancy. It became the Grande brasserie de Champigneulles-Nancy in 1910 then the Grandes brasseries et malteries de Champigneulles in 1912.
In 1966, it merged with the Brasseries de la Meuse and the Brasserie de Charmes to create the Société européenne de brasserie (S.E.B). Within this new group, which has 23 production sites in France for a production of 6 million hectoliters, Champigneulles has long been the most important site. The brewery remained a family establishment until 1970, when the S.E.B was taken over by the BSN group. In 1986, S.E.B merged with Kronenbourg, also acquired by the BSN group.
Danone (formerly BSN) sold Brasseries Kronenbourg to the Scottish group Scottish & Newcastle in 2000. In 2006, Brasseries Kronenbourg and Scottish & Newcastle sold the Champigneulles brewery to the German group TCB.

0.25l bottle. Pours a clear pale golden body with a quickly sidesticking white head. Aroma has notes of boiled vegetables and pale malts. Watery mouthfeeling, average carbonation and quite light bodied. Tastes light pale malty with notes of grains towards the finish. Low bitterness. Boring lager..

50 cl can @ Rajaportin Sauna
Aroma is rather light, it has some grain and hints of wheat. Flavour is grainy too, it has some starch, but the wheat cuts the harshness that usually appears in this kind of brews. Not very complex or special in any other way, but a good sauna beer!

Can (BB 06/2011)
Golden color, creamy white head, some lace. Light grainy nose with notes of corn and metal. Very grainy malty flavor with strong blackcurrant herbal hoppyness. Harsh finish. I wonder if beer can taste cheaper than this.
