330ml bottle. Pours clear gold, moderate carbonation. Has a curious white wine like sweetness.. unexpected but interesting.. clean overall with crisp chardonnay notes and integrated gentle apple fruit. Quite decent.

1 l bottle from 'EDEKA Knudtsen', apparently bottled in 2024. Clear, golden with a few white bubbles on top of it. Slightly sweetish, a little sourish, gently fruity aroma of ripe apple, light cellar and a touch of hay. Minimally sweet, gently tart, moderately fruity taste of ripe apple, hints of hay and traces of cellar, followed by a short, gently tart, quite dry and a little minerally finish. Thin to medium body, slightly astringent and gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Drinkable and quite clean but fairly bland.

This regional Apfelwein is quite unique. Not acidic like a cider, but has a definite wine vibe combined with apple. I like it. This is the canned variety.

Der alte Hochstädter Schoppepetzer, 1-l-Flasche von Edeka, Ernsthausen (Burgwald). - Orangegelb, leicht trüb. - In der Nase feiner, natürlich mildsaurer Apfel, zarte Honigsüße, zarte kellerige Noten. - Im Geschmack reintönig säuerlich (Klarapfel), zart holzig-kellerig, von milder Herbe und nur wenig süß. Milder rezent, schlank, trocken. - Sauber, schön natürlich fruchtig und angenehm herb - ein solider Apfelwein, der das alberne Wort Premium nicht braucht. Meine Flasche hat ein halbes Jahr daheim herumgestanden; dem Inhalt hat es offensichtlich nicht geschadet. (11.6.2021.)
