Description
Andy Hepworth started brewing in Reading almost directly after University. He moved to Horsham in 1980 and within five years became the youngest Head Brewer in the country, winning many awards.
The long-standing tradition of brewing in Horsham came to an abrupt halt in 2000 with the sale of its last brewery and so Andy, determined to maintain that tradition, joined up with the key members of the brewing team in order to create Hepworths, an independent brewery aiming to build its own range of quality brands, while maintaining flexibility for contract work.
In 2016 they relocated to their current site which they co-locate with Goodwood Brewery, Laines Brew Hub and Ridgeway Brewing sharing certain facilities but not brewplants.

500ml bottle. Amber-orange color. Steady soapy off-white head. Clean English Ale aroma, light hops. Mellow and creamy, soft carbonation. Very balanced, with a biscuity malt body and a steady, but never overly intense, hop flavor. I get some deep caramel malt notes, not unlike a nut brown, in the finish. A nice session beer, well done.

500ml bottle. Deep, practically translucent ruby reddish brown. Thin beige head. Smooth and mellow chocolate and caramel tones, with a delicate, spicy finish. Quite delicious, a pretty easy and balanced Old Ale. The bitterness is quite substantial and impressive for the style, but gets smoothed and by the luscious dark malt tones. Well done.

Bottle from Malt & Vine. Pours hazy medium amber with a foamy white head. Aroma is very floral. Medium body with sharp but foamy carbonation. Flavor is light stone fruit, light citrus, mild roast malt, and a lot of florality. Smooth. Sensuous. Could drink this forever.

Poured from a 660ml green bottle that was bought at Vinmonopolet. Good looking in the glass with its crystal clear golden body and its slowly diminishing, white head. Sweet aroma of noble hops and pale malts. Sweet fruity taste with notes of vegetables. Sparse bitterness on the swallow. Sweet and rather boring (shared at Finns, Tromsø 19.05.2010).
