Description
Established in 2004 by Robert Wicks, the Westerham Brewery Company is proud to bring brewing back to the historic town of Westerham. With a rich brewing heritage, Westerham can once again be proud of locally brewed, top quality real ales. Producing exceptional craft beer for the local market, we support the initiative to reduce food miles in the supply chain. Many ‘national brands’ are transported long distances and suffer from poor storage and handling.

Westerham Brewery Company has revived many of the much-loved flavours of the old Black Eagle Brewery, which closed in 1965 following the catastrophic consolidation by the ‘Big Brewers’ in the 1950’s. The yeast is re-cultured from the Black Eagle strain.

2/2/2019. Bottle from Beautiful Beers, Bury St Edmunds. Pours pale gold with a small off-white head. Aroma of sweet malt, flowers, light citrus and tropical fruit, grass and a hint of banana. Medium plus sweetness, light bitterness. Moderate body, oily texture, average carbonation.

19/1/2019. Bottle from Beautiful Beers, Bury St Edmunds and shared at the 2nd Kesgrave 50/50. Pours very dark brown with a small beige coloured head. Aroma of chocolate, ash, dark fruit, coffee, roasted malt and liquorice. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness. Medium body, slight oily texture, average carbonation.

Cask. A black beer with a brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate, and bread. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, bread, and chocolate, leading to a dry finish.

Cask handpull at County Hotel JDW. Dark brown chestnut colour. Lasting beige head. Malty rather good condition. Decent fruity malts. Very good malts. Very good condition.

Fra cask på Mossy Well Muswell Hill nov-18: brunsvart med ok skum. Espresso, mørke malter, fin urtebitterhed. Tørr avslutning, slank og elegant. Eminent drikkbar med mørk sjokolade helt i slutten.

330ml bottle from CentrAle, Newcastle station as Session Brewing Co. Indian Pale Ale. Gluten Free. Orangey gold amber colour, foamy white head leaving lacing and malty, grainy, metallic aroma. Taste is malt, grain, sweetish, with fruity earthy metallic cardboardy bitterness. Medium bodied, soft to medium carbonation, dry tangy grainy bitter finish. Not the best.

500ml bottle. Clear orangey-golden amber colour, foam white head and aroma of malt, grain, yeast & some fruity, spicey hop. Taste is malty, grain, straw, fruity with some lingering peppery & grassy bitterness. Medium bodied, medium carbonation, dry bitter finish. Quite drinkable.

A pint from cask at The Beehive (JDW landside, South terminal, Gatwick) 21.10.18. Clear pale golden. White diminishing head and persistent lacing. Aroma of citrus, green grapes and white wine. Fine taste of citrus, citrus zest, pale malt and marmalade. Good bitterness is lingering on. Superbly quaffable with low carbonation.

Half-pint, cask at Surrey Docks (JDW). Patchy, pearl white head, near-clear amber coloured body, clingy lacing. Moderate aroma of herbal hops and subdued malty sweetness. Well mixed taste of toffee, bread and herbal hops. Bittersweet ending. True to the style.( Rotherhithe, London 29.09.2018).

Fra cask på Surrey Docks JDW. Gyldenbrun. Lavt luftig skum. Kjeksaroma. Smaken malt & kjeks. Litt tørket frukt i bakgrunnen. God bitter!

Bottle, many thanks chriso! Dark brown color with large beige head. Aroma is roast, cocoa powder, prunes, earthy. Taste is chocolate, cocoa powder, roast, liquorice, earthy. Oily mouthfeel with low carbonation. Quite classic Stout!
