Description

Tap at taphouse. Black, creamy dark brown head. Roast, cocoa nib, rum barrel, dark sugar nose. Sticky full body, butter caramel, cocoa, coffee, pepper finish. Lovely flavors, but very much a sipping beer.

Mar ’15. On tap at Hopfenreich, Berlin. It poured pitch black body with a smaller, brown head. Alcohol, chicory, light coffee, tart black wine aroma. Mildly sweet flavor, chocolate, caramel, plain sugar, lots of dark fruits, a bit herbal, especially towards the end. Relatively full bodied and complex although not extremely so for the style. Long and pleasant rounded dark malty and now bitter herbal/grass hop finish. A pleasant IS for sure, with well hidden alcohol except the nose. Unlike the previous two taps this was luckily in the good shape!

Bottle. An imperial stout on the roasty and bitter side. Sometimes it feels a little watery, but not much - Anyway, that shouldn’t happen with 9.1% ABV.

At a tasting, thanks, small bubbly brown head, opaque black color, aroma of wood with light charred notes, flavor of sweet chocolate, with soy and toasted bread, quite strong bitterness, becomes mellower as it warms up. A bit too sweet but still nice.
