Bottle with sediment on the bottom. Pours a hazy golden body with a white ring. Some bubbles rising throughout. Aroma of apple juice, cinnamon, brown sugar, maple and a bit of raisins. Sweet, earthy and slightly minerally. Light alcohol tinge. Flavor is a whole lot better than the regular Scrumpy. Still sweet, but not cloying. More of an applesauce thing going on. Cinnamon, minerals, vanilla. Light bubbles and a decent thickness (high F.G.). Light tangy citrus-apple pie thing going on in the finish.
Still un-naturally sweet, but loads better than their first attempt. They actually make the sweetness work in this one.

Bottle: Pale translucent yellow with no real head. The nose is bright with apples, cinnamon, caramelized sugar, and hints of fresh baked apple pie. Upon first taste I can again sense the fresh baked pie, down to a crispy crust. More fresh apple and more cinnamon. Son of a bitch! This can’t be organic, it tastes too damn good. On a side note, I have had few ciders to compare this with that were any good. So... for the time being, a higher rating is due for this delicious treat. Really, if you dig it, give it props.

500 mL bottle from Whole Foods Market, Charlottesville, VA. Pours a hazy pale orange color with no head. Aroma is sweet, syrupy apples with a bit of a tart note, much like apple juice. Taste is tart apples, cinnamon, maple and vanilla that shows up more as the cider warms. Very well spiced and very tasty. Medium bodied.

Five dollar bottle from New Beer. Maybe six months sitting in my fridge. Had this for the first time a couple years back in a Boston bar when Dupont, again, was on the menu but was unavailable. Served in an Ommegang anniversary glass. Still pours settles out a pale & hazed honey wheat color. Try as I might, there’s some chunks in there. It turns a nice orange hue once it gets all nasty. :D Smell is fresh pressed red, lots of soured skin, barely a sense of wood & vanilla, & just a little plastic. Feel is still, slightly greasy, a touch gritty with chewy tannins & notions of leftover pulp. That wasn’t a piece of yeast I felt, that was a piece of skin. Taste is just so juicy. Crisp sweet reds. I taste pineapple juice in here. Subliminal cinnamon, this cries to be mulled. There is NO alcohol in this. Coating & just barely tart. Just a bit of a yeasty bitter edge dragging on the finish. So full. Almost like it’s bottled concentrate. A nice tide over for when trolling the forums for iced cider. Very satisfying. :)

A light hazed golden cider. A pleasant apple puree aroma with chalkey notes. In mouth, a crisp refreshing apple with maple water sap. Cools your throat as it goes down. A really nice offering. Sampled at the Small Bar on Division, May 16 2009.

Bottle...light straw in color, no head...it smells astringent, along with apples...some one put chemicals in my organic cider!!!....the flavor is sweet apple. and the same astringent/chemical taste but lighter....light syrupy characteristic to the body...very reminiscent of ice wine or ice cider actually...its better straight out of the bottle rather than glass..the finish is cinnamon

Pours with a chill hazed golden body with a small fizzy head. Aroma is of alcohol, cinnamon and apples. Taste is nearly cloyingly sweet. Sort of like a cheap NA apple cider with some (hardly noticable) alcohol added. Syrupy mouthfeel for the 5.5% abv. Fizzy carbonation.

The label of this bottle looks like it come out of the early 19th century. I was excited when I looked at the label and saw there was nothing added to this brew to make it, except apple juice! So many of the so called ciders available locally are concoctions of all kinds of additives. Unfiltered, this stuff pours like an unfiltered wheat, swirling magic in the glass form the gunk on the bottom of the bottle, but not excessive. I’ve never had a cider before that had sediment on the bottom of the bottle. Aroma is tart and sour, from the time you pop the lid of the brown 22 oz bomber to the time it settles in the glass. I used a sniffer to drink this one. Wow, what a taste impact, simpler is better when it comes to ciders. Tart friendly sour apply palate. However, the 6% alky is readily apparent, I haven’t really tasted a strong cider since jjpm74 sent me the Putney Mountain Scott Farm Spy that kicked my ass. The alky content however is not overwhelming and does not distract from the flavors, until that is, you start catching a buzz near the bottom of the bottle. Very enjoyable and very friendly, quite a taste experience. Sip after sip I am amazed about the simpleness of this brew, just plain great all round. The feel on the palate is tingly welcomed carbonation. The only thing that keeps me from giving this a 20/20 overall is the mild alky finish that is apparent after each sip. This session was simply a pleasure, I hope this becomes readily available in the Pittsburgh area. Don’t gulp this down too quickly!
