Bomber from Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours bright gold with a creamy/foamy white head. Aroma has lots of citrus, some light stone fruit, and barely detectable malt. Spice notes. Med body or better. Flavor is citrus, spice, stone fruit, light caramel. It’s fresh and fruity - just a little harsh hop aspect. Pretty dry and very bitter. An IPA’s IPA.

Bomber from Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours dark brown with a creamy tan head. Aroma is pine/resin over possibly chocolaty malt. Med + body. Flavor is pine/resin forward. Really overwhelms the malt. Chocolate with perhaps an anise touch is next. Then back to pine/resin, and maybe some citrus/fruit. Quite strong in flavor - almost a one note. Finishes well to the bitter side. Good stuff.

22oz bomber pours with a clear pure gold body that supports a dirty white head of foam. The aroma offers up a dash of malts, a dash of caramel malts and then a big boozy load of grapefruit and lime and tangerine hoppiness. The taste has a fairly smooth palate to it where supple firm hops create a tasty havoc of bitter grapefruit, lime and tangerine edged with some late addition to the boil juiciness. OK. Sipping pretty good about now. To midway the modest malts come to the surface creating a sweet brown bread to faintly caramel sensation well below the bruising hops. This indeed delivers a truck load of tasty hops but the light maltiness manages to muddle things a bit and prevents this from being a stellar experience rather than just a tasty sipping experience. Still, this is 11+% of hoppy liquid love.

22oz bomber pours with a clear copper body that has thin gold edges and supports a dirty white head of foam. The aroma offers up malt infused lime, grapefruit, a dash of mango and a fair degree of spicy onion like hops. The taste begins with a firm unloading of bitter grapefruit and other citrus hops, near resiny spicy onion like hops, grassy hops and a moderate level of juicy mango and cantaloupe. To midway the malt base hits with sweetness that tries to disrupt matters and unhinge the bitter hops from the mild juiciness. The malt base manages to hold this together but it could have been done more gracefully and harmoniously. In the big picture that’s a minor point (and keeps this from being a stellar experience) in a really good tasty hoppy brew that I would certainly have again.

Light haze on this gold beer, good pale cream colour head. Palate is light and mildly dry and has a fine crispness. Smooth malts, lightly sweet with a nice amount of cream. Resinous piney hops and spicy orange. Bitterish orange peel. Little tangerine. It’s a smooth hop profile, but with muscle. Finishes semi dry with hop spice and peel bitterness lingering on. Nice one.

Sample from tap @ 38 Degrees Alehouse. Hazy golden/yellow color. Rather dense off white head. Aroma’s: citrus & resin, dank hops. Retronasal: caramel, citrussy sour, dank. Flavor is bitter and moderate sweet. Strong alcohol feel. Body is medium to full. Finishes bitter, a bit herbal. Nice, strong, but not over the top.
