500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.0%. Chestnut coloured beer, big light tan head. Aroma of berries and malts, hints of toffee. The flavour is brimming with fruit/berries, caramel and malts, but is not too sweet, with a pleasant hoppy bitterness and some chocolate notes in the finish. Excellent beer, and quite amazing that it is only 4%.

Huge light brownish head quickly develops huge bubbles. Deep barely translucent dark red body. Roasty wooden wet wool aroma with hoppy notes. Dry powerful roasty wooden caramel taste with nutty creosote notes, lightly perfumy. Some fruit and chocolate as well. Soft, clean mouthfeel. Hints of sourness. Dry astringent burnt minty wooden aftertaste. An excellent session beer. I’m amazed by the amount of taste in this, given the alcohol. (0.5l bottle, Centra, Oslo.)

500 ml bottle, bought in Norway. A new beer from Adnams, developed from their long gone Champion Pale Ale. Amber colour, big off-white head. Biscuits, some malts and a moderate fruitiness in the aroma. The flavour has fruity hops on a decent malty base, and the mouthfeel is very good for a 3.4% beer.

Bottle 0,5l. Golden colored. An OK fluffy head that lasted. Strong aroma of hops & lemon. Extremely fruity flavor - almost like perfume. A fruity bitterness evolving. Refreshing.

Bottle from Waitrose. Red with a decent off-white head. Fruity, nutty aroma marred by a tainted, boiled sweet edge. Flavour of sweet malt with plenty of red fruit, a touch of spice and a short bitter finish. Nothing like as good as the weaker, cask-conditioned version.
