(Cask at Old Mitre, Hatton Garden, London 20 Apr 2006) Colour is amber/copper. Nose is malty and fruity with a hint of sewage. Taste is malty and fruity with apricots and mandarine, rather dry and bitter finish. Nice and rather complex. Always a reliable resort if nothing more exciting is available.

30-03-06 Picked up a bopttle at Morrisons. Forgot to chill as recommended, but I did re-seal and stick the second half of the bottle in the fridge and had a bit later it was no better really. Light amber coloured unremarkable blonde, some bittereness, some citrus fine but that’s about it, expected better from Adnams.

(Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm) Colour is golden. Very nice nose with fresh, grassy hops and citrus (grapefruit, lemon). Fresh hoppy, somewhat bready and slightly sweetish taste dominated by hops (citrus: grapefruit, lemon) and a dry bitter finish. Very summery with a characteristic taste of American hops. Refreshing and nice.

Bottle. As bottled beer go this is definately one of the elite brigade. This beer pours a very dark red is very clear and has a reasonable off white head. Fruity and malty and powerful beer that I hadn’t realised was so significantly stronger than it’s cask counterpart. One of those select band of strong English beers that could be drunk alongside similar strenght Belgian classics and that would more than hold its own, very, very moreish.

(Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm) Dark ruby red/ brown. Starts very sweet and fruity, lots of wild berries (blackberries, blueberries), a touch of marzipan. Underneath the sweetness and fruit there is a distinct hoppiness emerging. Very warming and tasty.
