Bottle from Morrisons. Pours a clear golden colour with a thinnish white head. Aromas are citrus and floral hops. Taste is again citrus and floral notes with some added biscuits, a touch herbal and some earthy hops on the finish. Thin to medium body, low carbonation and smooth slightly oily mouthfeel. Decent Blonde Ale.

[Cask at the Alehouse, Reading.] A bright amber pour with a thin white head; fruity aroma; dry floral taste with a hint of orange; and a crisp dry finish. Refreshing and summery.

Bottle. Waitrose. This popped in me head after an FB old money beer thread got me thinking about OMT brews. Literally drank gallons of this at the Beer Engine on Wakefield Westgate around 1991-92. Proper eye opener along the lines of Weetybits brewed by Magic Rock Stu at the Hillsborough Hotel. I mean they had hops. Glorious then. Still decent now, to be fair. I’ve no idea what I’m on about.

Bottle at home. Maybe it could have been cooled a bit more, but it was still one of the better golden ales that I have had in my life. Very smooth, lots of flavour and just plain old tasty.

Bottle from local Tesco. Amazingly, according to my records I’ve not drunk this before ! Aroma is malts with a touch of honey. Pours a pale straw with a small white head and good lacing. In the mouth it starts off sweet with summer fruits, before citrushops kick in, follwed by some spicy peppers. Finish is bordering on horrible bitter lemon. Nice and quite refreshing, but it’s hard to believe this beer was ever considered “ground breaking” !

500ml bottle. Pours clear dark amber with an ample off-white head. Aroma: malty, caramel, lots of spice - mostly nutmeg and cinnamon. Taste: light sweet & light to moderate bitter, more malt & caramel, orange & coriander - but in general the spices overpower everything. Medium body with frothy carbonation
