Pours a coppery red, with mid-size head. Good amount of hop aroma and flavor. This was a better IPA than the official IPA on tap that evening. On tap at brewpub.

On tap at brewpub. Not very IPA-like to my tastes. Not a lot in the way of citrus aroma or flavor. Very sweet. More of a malty, biscuity beer than what I prefer.

On tap @ Flat Branch with jcnielsen. Pours a mahogany brown appearance with a creamy light brown head. Toffee, light butterscotch, caramel, nutty aroma. The mouth feel is goopy and sugary. A touch smoky flavor with some burnt sugar. Definitely some pear / apple notes as well. Overly sweet. Dull carbonation. Pass.

On tap @ Flat Branch with jcnielsen. I wasn’t too impressed with their German-style Hefeweizen last time, so let’s see how their Americanized Hefeweizen is. Pours a cloudy light yellow appearance with a creamy white head. Looks like a Witbier. Lemon Pledge, soapy / floral aroma. Medium body. Bitter soapy flavor with some lemon and citrusy notes. A touch doughy. No thanks.

On nitro @ Flat Branch with jcnielsen. Pours a reddish / dark brown appearance with a creamy brown head. Some roast, lactose, and light cherry in the nose. Creamy mouth feel. The cherry is much more intense in the flavor and it comes off like cherry cordial filling. Slight twangy tartness to the flavor. Moderately sweet. Low bitterness. The aftertaste is thick cherry candy. The cherries seem a bit artificial. I bet this is a crowd pleaser but it’s just ok in my mind.

On tap @ Flat Branch with jcnielsen. Pours a hazy burnt orange appearance with a tan head. Banana, ice cream, orange citrusy, bready yeasty nose with maybe a hint of oxidation. Ok mouth feel. Not too overly sweet flavor but it also tastes of cardboard and slight oxidation. Slightly lighter fruits in the flavor like apple and banana. A little bit of caramel and quite a bit of spices. Not horrible but I wonder if it’s not been aging a while.

2004 vintage consumed in early 2011 - A completely different barleywine than any of their other vintages that I had. First, its black. Even after 6 years its full of sweet fruit esters, all over the place. The strong barleywine alcohol is present as well, however it is not astringent (no astringent cherry). Sweet, alcoholic, strong, and overly fruity. Its showing no sign of age, still very fresh tasting actually. It could use more aging actually. Surprisingly ester rich.

Sampler at brewpub. Thick long lasting head atop a brownish-amber clear body. Visible strong carbonation bubbles. Aroma is syrupy malts sweet with hops breaking through. Flavor again is syrupy malts, sugars and bitter drying finish. An average brewpub barleywine. Too one demensional, not bad but very average hoppy barleywine.

Nonic draft at the brewpub in Columbia, Missouri. Pour is a slight golden orange with a minimal white head. Aroma is a bunch of pepper, fresh clean vegetable spice. It’s not super spicy pepper, just fresh vegetable pepper. That’s more or less the nose. The taste is less spicy than expected, just a nice clean beer with a crisp fresh pepper taste to it - more green pepper than spicy hot. The peppers carry the long finish, clean. Palate is medium bodied, lingering dry pepper. Nice pepper beer.
