Bottle @ home shared with Caesar. Clear golden color, average to medium sized white to off-white head. Smell and taste malts, fruitpeel tannine and fruitpeel tart. High -too high imo- carbonation. Really annoying.

Bottle thx to Benzai, BB Nov 17, small sample. Almost clear golden color, short rocky head. Aroma is slight spicy, bit apple, honey, coriander. Slight bitter in taste, spicy, bit dry. Bit boring.

Pours unclear blonde, Ok white head. Smell is bit sweet, slightly aromatic, not superintense. Taste is bit bitter, some green aspects ( guessing the leaves ) bit sweet-aromatic. Not all that great, but not bad.

One of those beers trying to cash in on the recent saison craze. Coarse, thickly cobweb-lacing, off-white, moussy, irregular head, hazy straw blonde colour with tiny bits of yeast here and there, golden hue. Aroma of unripe yellow plums, gooseberry, straw, unripe pineapple, freshly cut potato, white bread, sourish sweaty grains, green banana, apple peel, some lemon zest and a whiff of cooked cauliflower-like DMS. Very fruity taste mingling sweetish and sourish aspects, lots of gooseberry and estery pineapple along with a strong green apple-like acetaldehyde presence, strongish carbonation with somewhat minerally effect; grainy and lightly bready malt backbone, just a tad sweetish while the initial fruit esters persist. Finishes with a grassy hop touch with no ’deep’ bittering power but yielding some earthy and floral retronasal qualities; yeasty touch as well as some faint spicy phenols. Credible as a saison, which in itself is kind of an achievement seen the misunderstandings and historical ’haze’ surrounding this style, but unfortunately not free of flaws.

330 ml bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy golden straw color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings around the glass, with a large amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of lemon, orange, pear, apple, white grape, peppercorn, wheat, cracker, herbal, straw, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, earthy hops, and moderate pale malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of lemon, orange, pear, apple, white grape, peppercorn, wheat, cracker, herbal, straw, grass, and yeast earthiness. Good amount of peppery yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, orange, pear, apple, white grape, peppercorn, wheat, cracker, herbal, straw, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, earthy hops, and moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/spiciness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Moderate dryness from carbonation/yeast spice as well. High carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, crisp, moderately bready/grainy, and lightly prickly balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice saison style. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, earthy hops, and moderate pale malt flavors; and very smooth, crisp, and easy to drink for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

13/I/16 - 33cl bottle from De Hopduvel (Gent) @ home - BB: n/a (export label) (2016-32)

Clear blond beer, huge crackling fizzy white head, dissolving at the top but being continually fed from the bottom. Aroma: fruity, pears, yeast, bread, some banana, little spicy, coriander. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: coriander overload, spicy, bit sourish, some yeast, bit chemical, solvent. Aftertaste: pretty bitter, lots of yeast, some citrus, more coriander, fruity, bitter, chemical finish, wheat?

33cl Bottle from Prik&Tik Baelus. Hazy golden colour, white head. Aroma of plastic, dead yeast, herbal, some nice Tripel notes underneath. Flavour is the same, acrid plastic bitterness. Medium bodied, some alcohol. Bad.

330 ml. bottle sampled. BBF strip not marked. Hazy golden, lightly off-white head. Nose is wet socks, sewage water, cold water, rotting stone fruit, dirty, nasty, tad watery,… Taste is rotting barn, rotting Turkish candy, dirty, caramel, ditch water, sugar, watery, totally nasty, medicinal,… Watery, candy bdoy,… In general I have disliked this breweries efforts so far but this goes into train wreck zone. Embarrassing really not sure if ineptitude, bad taste or indifference is at play here.
