When we started we were (and still are) huge fans of hops and there just weren't enough brewers in the UK using them, even though that sounds ridiculous in today's beer world. So, rather than moaning into our beer, we thought we'd do something about it and brew some of our own! Over time as the beer scene evolved, there was less need for our style of hoppy beers since everyone was brewing with them so we evolved too and widened our style portfolio.

Tap at Black Iris, Lincoln. Black colour with a slim off white head. Aroma and taste are wooden barrel malty and rich. Slight fruity tart. Full body.

Keg from Black Iris taproom. Black, opaque with a ring of beige head. Coconut in the aroma, some bourbon. Sweet taste, booze and liquorice with more coconut. Light sourness in the finish. Syrupy body with light carbonation. Brilliant.

Keg at Black Iris. Aroma is boozy. Fruity. Coffee. Dark and glossy. Creamy beige head. Mist have been barrel aged - fruity booze. Underlying coffee. Medium bodied. Oily. Flat carbonation. Long somewhat astringent finish. Pub punchy stuff but maybes well be a standard Impy Porter.

Can share, thanks Dave! Dark brown, almost black, translucent with a ring of off-white head. Whisky aroma, some liquorice and grassy/floral notes. Nicely balanced taste with sweet grappa and salt liquorice notes. Chalky bitterness in the finish. Medium carbonation. Another brilliant impy from Steel City.

Keg draught at BrewDog Sheffield. Amber gold an hazy with a thin white head. Pastry aroma with notes of umami, fruited caramel, cream cheese icing. Sweet/sour interplay in the taste going to a more traditional fruity sour, sweet cheese in the finish. My dear Lord.

Draught at BrewDog Sheffield. Murky dark brown, no head. A little less translucent than the others in the series. Lots of rum in the aroma, eclipsing everything else although I'm getting some hard citrus peel. Sour taste, a touch of mojito and more rum. Tongue-coating tartness on the finish. Thin body. Another impressive beer from the series.

Keg draught at BrewDog Sheffield. Murky dark brown with no head to speak of. Honey and berry aroma, not very sour smelling with a little bit of vanilla. Bit berry on the taste, sweetervthan id have inagined. This hides the booze so well which is dangerous. Drier in the finish. Love, love this.
