Just across the city of Edinburgh I saw a painting of Thomas Carlyle in the Portrait Gallery yesterday, today is the anniversary of his death, so this session hopped tropical fruit brew is today's deadication brew, to the revered Scot.

One of only two beers available from Hanging Bat brewery amongst 19 options at their own place. I wouldn't have ordered their lager if there were more but beggars.... It's fair, nice glowing golden appearance. Crisp.

Can from Beer52. New brewery for me. Hazy amber with small white top. Aroma is somewhat subtle with caramel, dried flora and pine. Flavour has similar notes but less timid with a bitter orange which cuts through delightfully. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, between smooth and chewy; works well. Enjoyable.

Keg at the Hanging Bat, Edinburgh, 05/10/24. Clear golden blonde topped with a lasting white cap. Nose is pale malts, citric tinged straw, cereals, herb. Taste comprises bready malts, toasted grains, hedgerow, grass, herb. Medium bodied, light prickly carbonation, semi drying close. Decent enough logger-bier.
