Description
For nearly twenty five years, our mission here at Smuttynose has remained the same: to brew the best beer we can in a way we can be proud of. That includes honoring New England’s rich beermaking history, respecting our environment, and playing an active role in our community.

We value creativity, quality, authenticity and sustainability, but it really boils down to making great beers to enjoy with friends and family. We hope you love drinking our beers as much as we love brewing them. Cheers!

Merged with Harpoon in 2024, forming Barrel One Collective.

Can from the mixed 12 pack from Market Basket. Lightly hazy lemon yellow with a hint of gold and a frothy white head that slowly recedes. Light bread and hints of caramel maltiness offset with citrus tropical and earthy hop aromas and flavors. Pretty nice.

473ml can. Slightly cloudy, orange, golden colour with small to average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Sweetish fruity and slightly lactic aroma, notes of raspberry, a touch of mild sauerkraut, whiffs of lime. Taste is tart, slightly lactic, minimally citric, slightly fruity, diluted hinrs of raspberry, a touch of lime and mild sauerkraut. Watery texture, minimally astringent palate, medium, soft carbonation. Thin and watery, a bit too clean and cautious - OK.

Cold IPA actually strikes me as a spring beer vs winter as described. Muted cloudy gold and very minimal head. Nose is melon and yeast. Tastes of honey dew, oranges, some pine tree sap, pizza dough. Creamy mouthfeel. Some sweetness on finish.

Can best before 10/28/23, drunk 1/15/23. Moderately hazy cherry-cranberry colored. No head. Not too sweet in the nose it seems, though with pretty strong lactic character, not a ton of real cherry character. Not super sweet, thankfully, but it's very thin. Definitely get the cheesecake here. Not too punchy on the lactic acid. I mean, it's drinkable but there's not a single compelling thing here.
