Description
For nearly twenty five years, our mission here at Smuttynose has remained the same: to brew the best beer we can in a way we can be proud of. That includes honoring New England’s rich beermaking history, respecting our environment, and playing an active role in our community.

We value creativity, quality, authenticity and sustainability, but it really boils down to making great beers to enjoy with friends and family. We hope you love drinking our beers as much as we love brewing them. Cheers!

Day 18 of the Beer Republic hoppy calendar, packaged 9/19, drunk watching Fallout. Clear gold with a tall fine head, nose of caramel with pine and citrus - very West Coast. Flavor follows through with clean, crisp, and mid-hopped WC profile, nice and dry. Big IBUs and relatively but not perfectly smooth bitterness. Tasty, maybe in the top 3 of the calendar so far.

$1 can from Beaver County Bev on clearance rack. Pour is big and black, large and in charge with its bubbly tan head that fades to a thin smooth creamy scum. Nose is a little boozy and laced with an aroma of black coffee. Taste is a big uppercut of straight up besotted coffee. Very fine carbonation on the palate, barely there. Taste the old partially burnt medium bitter old damp campfire wood. Quite a thwack as I move thru the middle. Coffee coffee tank soused coffee. Finishes with both eyes piercing and penetrating a wide open arena.

Another 1$ can from Beaver County Beverage. Pour is very hazy mildly orange tinted pale. Nose is old aged IPA hops, this makes me nervous. Best by date code is March of 2025, so no wonder. Taste is bitterly rude. Obnoxious. This stuff batters, pounds and belabors my taste buds. This is a thumping thrashing wack to my senses. Quit mouth coating. My poor macro loven taste buds are heading for the hills. They're looking for a Flemish tart ale ass to crawl up in and hide. Sock slug and dong. Hoping to get some benefit out of this like some riveting exciting involving brain numbing effects such as impaired judgment, slurred speech, poor coordination, and memory loss. There you have it.

Can for a buck off the clearance rack at Beaver County Beverage. Pour is very light almost like lemonade but quite hazy of course. Mild nose of something like grapefruit. Big heavy bitter hops flavor. Think fermenting green grapefruit rinds, whew. Very rude very crude for a macro lager lover. But what dah heck? 1$ for a big brewver tick! In the middle to the finish that bitter bullshit really starts to set in. Quite nasty nellie. But I must admit, there is enough carbonation in this to keep it from being a mouth coating monster. There, you have it.

Far from a hop bomb, this IPA is engaging, fresh and layered enough to be among the top tier. A white head on an amber/straw body. The nose is features fresh citrus and tropical fruit with a touch of honey. Hops are there for sure, with grapefruit, lemon, melon and kiwi fruit jumping to mind. A honey biscuit taste to the malt and maybe a hint of toffee underneath round it out nicely. Solid carbonation keeps it lively and the slightly slick mouth feel adds to the satisfaction.
