Description
For nearly twenty five years, our mission here at Smuttynose has remained the same: to brew the best beer we can in a way we can be proud of. That includes honoring New England’s rich beermaking history, respecting our environment, and playing an active role in our community.

We value creativity, quality, authenticity and sustainability, but it really boils down to making great beers to enjoy with friends and family. We hope you love drinking our beers as much as we love brewing them. Cheers!

Merged with Harpoon in 2024, forming Barrel One Collective.

(Bottle) Chestnut brown colour with dense, beige head. Malty nose with maple syrup, dried fruit, roasted nuts, chocolate, caramel, brown sugar, a touch of oak wood and some orange peel. Malty, slightly vinous taste with notes of dried fruit, caramel, maple syrup, nuts, brown sugar, a touch of vanilla and a mild spicy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, rounded mouthfeel, with a certain sweetness. Really tasty and well balanced. Good shot at the old ale style. Very nice.

Tall can from AFH. Very clear, lightly golden. Small head that fades to a thin white lacing. Has a Budweiser with peach aroma. I guess the flavor is pecH? IDK. More like just sugar hard candy with tropical fruit flavors. Finish, no flavor, bland dry.

Tall can from AFH. Murky grapefruit pink with a pink head. Smells of lactic acid, plum, apple, peaches and salt. Taste, bitter, tart, dry, nice fruity finish, sugary. A little candy-like sweetness which is the only downside. I don’t really taste cinnamon.

$4.99 pint can, Total Wine, Gainesville. For a beer called Mysterious Haze, you would think it'd be hazy. It's not. Clear golden with a small white head. Aroma is resin, pine, mango, light citrus (orange?). Flavor is light orange, somewhat candied and sugary, caramel, pine. This is no NEIPA.

Clear golden with a thick white head. Aroma of yeast and bread. Taste is dominated by bread notes. Palate includes hops, the saaz hops are well balanced here. Really good pilsener.

Canned Oct 2018. Wow, that is what I am talking about. A Very mild bready malt character with long lasting tart raspberries in the finish. Lactic acid is low. Low juicy with a powerful tart punch. Enjoying this.

Canned 7-27-18 and I just bought this today at the brewery. This doesn’t remind me of the former “Cherry Short Weisse”. Some of the “sour” series is just re-branded. Yet this one tastes much more weak than the original. Cherry is real light. And I don’t get any yeast or malty hints from this brew. Very tame and safe.

Pours dark brown with a thick creme head. Aroma of spice. Taste is light and refreshing, distinct notes of spice and coriander. Palate contains earthen notes, toned down ferrous influences. Good beer.

From a growler, poured within 2 hours of filling: Honey, tea, marigold, and orange nose. Clear deep amber, thick head, little retention. Caramel, tea. Medium body, soft carbonation, quite resinous.
