Description
Robbert Orano started White Pony. He is a home brewer with Belgian roots. He has a great preference for craft beer and heavier Belgian beers. The White Pony brewery makes beer in an artisanal way, unpasteurized and unfiltered. And bottles the beer with respect for the old tradition. But all this is done with an innovative view of the brewing process.

Pours black, medium large, off-white head. Scent is mild, roasty malts, bit sharp. Taste is full, vanilla, roasty, sweet. Dark sugar. Smooth body. medium low carbo. Bit sharp finish - not metallic, but a strange feature i'd place in that area of impressions.

10 June 2023. At 15de Brugs Bierfestival. Cheers to Anke, mom, dad, et al.

A: hazy amber-brown, stable, frothy, tan head.
A: old raisin, mouldy cherry, rotting red apple, toffee, liqueur.
T: sweet raisin, cherry, apple & pear, toffee.
F: herbal hops, bitter dried orange peel, sweet dried fruit, warming liqueur-like alcohol.
P: medium body, thin oily texture, average carbonation.
Smells old and maderised but in a bad way an any assertive bitterness has faded away - my guess is that they served an old batch here at the festival. Too bad.

Just a light haze on this gold beer, small bubbly pale cream head. Palate is light and fairly dry, decent fine minerally carbonation. Creamy sweetness malts but somewhat thin on the mouthfeel. Mellow bourbon fruits with a nice light barrel induced vanilla. Aquavit is supposed to be neutral but as per those few occasions I've had Aquavit BA beers before, I get a light ripe and almost candyish fruity flavour Finishes light and semi dry. No heat whatsoever from this 13.9% beer. Either the alcohol is miscalculated or this is a dangerously quaffable beer. Nice blend of bourbon ba and Aquavit BA, just a tad thin and dry in the mouthfeel.
