Bottle, thanks Bierkrug. Amber, fine carbonation, low offwhite cream. Crisp metallic hops on a strawlike malt base aroma. Chewy body, good malt base, nice bitterhop wallop to counterbalance - a shame about the metallic note. Still, a pleaasant surprise after the stream of letdowsn I encountered when I visited Alsace last.

Pinkish clear beer! Crisp palate, a little dry. It manages to be malty and crisp but the flavour is watery with just a trace of elderflower coming through. Very dissapointing.

SLAM! Yeah, Slam! Damn, a "slam" beer must be awweeeesssoome, right? Even over in France I didn’t see this stuff on sale.... perhaps they took the floor droppings, added a few gallons of ethanol alcohol, and shipped it over to North America to sell? Who knows..... but what I do know is that there is a 500ml can staring me down, with its tacky evil energy-drink-style label, on my table. So it pours with an ugly pasty-white head and a boring light amber body with very small bubbles for carbonation. The aroma is cloying fruity sugary rice-wine sweetness like that of a million other macrobrews. The taste is harsh malt and syrup notes with a sweet finish. Well, it’s vaguely drinkable, but in all honesty it’s quite bad - but drinkable enough to get you wasted when you need it.

Okay boring white head and boring gold colour. No aroma to speak of. Taste is a whole lot of nothing with a bit of a bready dry finish. It’s probably good for getting drunk, unintrusive as it is, but as for a sipping beer - nah.

Canette 500ml.
