About
The brewery Slaghmuylder was founded in 1860 by Emmanuel Slaghmuylder. Around the turn of the century his son Ernest took over the company. He married Marie Van Roy, daughter of a brewer family of Wieze. His three sons opened a new brewery in 1926 which could start immediately with the new brewing process for lager beer. During the war of 1940-1945 brewing restarted for high-fermentation ales. It is only in1958 that the brewery started again with the production of low-fermentation beers. In the mid sixties the three brothers were succeeded by their sons. From 1979 on, the three nephews started brewing the Witkap Pater beers on request of brewery "De Drie Linden" from Brasschaat. In 1981 the Witkap Pater brand was officially taken over by Slaghmuylder. Beginning of theeighties the brewery was equipped with separate fermentation and layering cellars for both high and low fermentation beers. Brewery Slaghmuylder remains a unique family company that builds on a rich tradition.

Old rating from 2016 - 330ml bottle brought back from Belgium. Pours ruby brown with a foamy white head. Aromas & tastes of lemon, spice, tangy, brown sugar & yeast. Medium body. Long dry finish

As Witkap Pater Stimulo. Aroma of malts, citrus fruits, yeast, some spicy notes. Flavour is similar, fruity sweetness and a little bitterness in the aftertaste. Rather ordinary.

Bottle at home. Aroma is malt, caramel, dark bread, brown sugar, yeast, raisins, some fruity notes. Flavour is medium sweet with a little bitterness in the finish. Also a hint of sourness. Body is just medium, a bit thinner than expected. Drinkable, but a bit too sugary for my taste.

Bottle from Speciaalbierpakket. Aroma is dark malt, caramel, with sweetish dried dark fruits, raisins, yeast, and forest fruit jam. Flavour is sweet and mildly bitter. Body is medium. Not a bad Dubbel, lacks candysugar which is a good thing, with an atypical take on the dried fruits you expect from a Dubbel.

Аромат в основе цитрусовый. Цвет слегка мутный, пена очень тонкая. Вкус слегка травяной. Чувствуются цитрусы, немного хмеля и легкая горчинка в послевкусие. Немногое пустоватое как по мне.
