Pours a cloudy amber, with lively carbonation and a cream-colored head. Fruit and spicy yeast aroma. Flavor is first and foremost dry, with vinous and fruity characteristics, spiciness, and a bit of apple cider. Tasty.

Deep black cherry/brown color. Smells of strong fruits. Initial taste is heavily fruity and clears a bit, narrowing off into a bit more astringent palate. It had plenty of body and was overflowing with ripe fruit flavors, cherry being the most prominent, while plum and almost a blueberryish flavor contributed as well. Finishes with some yeast and sweetness and a little exra malt that is almost slightly bitter. This, like Trois Pistoles, is a beer I keep coming back to, I dont know what exactly it is, maybe my inexperienced Belgian palate, but I have found that these rounder, less astringent belgians are more in line with the typical anglo-american beer palate. Anyways this is good stuff. Rerate. Been a while since I had it, so I tried it again. Great pour, opaque, lots of beige head, lacing. Aroma is pretty decent, plums, alcohol, raisins, slight tart cherry. Flavor begins with brown sugar and dry plums, good amount of malt. Dries out towards the finish, which is a bit too astringent, while the alcohol is quite apparent. Still, a high quality brew.

White label 2003 edition. Bright golden brown; aroma of plum, candy and banana. Slightly astringent notes in the body. Chewy. Alcoholic. Slight yeast note, with a bitter ashy note in the finish. Alcohol is too dominant.

Original, burgundy label edition: Orangey-burgundy colour. Deep sense of plum, blood orange, deep caramel, stale wood, cherries. Some tartness comes into the mix mid-palate. Overall, though, it's quite sweet, slightly candyish even. Warming, slightly spicy finish.

Light, zesty body topped by a thick white head. Vinous and sharp alcohol aroma. Flavor is, like the aroma, comprised of vinous fruit and sharp alcohol notes. Lively carbonation. The white wine of beers, si?

Nice dark color and a mileage of fruitand flowery type flavors. Personal it seemed like a Chimay Blue wanna-be and the taste was very artifical.

(12 oz. bottle) Pours a dark, rich red with a thick tan head. Very strong aroma is dominated by fermented bananas. Pretty remarkable flavor: tangy sugars, banana, toffee, and vinous characteristics blend with warming alcohol tones. Pair this with a Harvey's Elizabethan Ale for a decadent night of tasting.

Not gold but a yellow color, nice head. A little citrus-esq taste. This beer is only good if you can’t find an actual Belgian beer or you want to save some money.5/3/6/3/13.

What a crude rating but it does serve a point, for some reason I did not like this beer back then and have not returned to it since. I have been wondering what it could be, I guessed maybe there was some pilsner malt in there or something I did not like. But a new 3 pack gift set gave me a chance to revisit the beer finally. It pours a yellowish golden with a small but strong head. A clear beer until you get the bottom of the bottle in there, then it becomes an impenetrable gelatin. Aroma is, yeah not working for me, a Belgian sweet yeastiness out of control. It’s a very specific nose grabbing sweetness that just doesn’t do it for me. It really overtakes any other aspects of the beer, like the light herbal-ness that’s very rustic. Taste is sweet Belgian yeast and sweet malt which is back-ended by a sharp but short herbal sting. Mouthfeel is full with a soft carbonation but a few spikes felt here and there. It just doesn’t work for me, not my type of saison.

Slight gushing to thick, creamy yellow head. Fine pearling. Hazy dark-amber beer. Sweet nose, caramel or caramel-liqueur. some nuttiness, waft of toilet soap. Heavily carbonated. Hence some acidity, but a walnut-like bitterness keeps on top. Yeasty, with slight fruity notes. malty underbuild (caramalt) is there, but low-profile. Retronasal again liqueurish and an impression of hazelnut-choco-spread (VERY Belgian!). Medium bodied. More abbey-double than Speciale/ale. Slightly spritzy. I had tried this beer before, and it comes out much better this time as before. Somehow the interchanging of the styles turned out beneficial.

Dark orange / light brown colour. Initial tan head, but quickly fades. Aroma of apples and other fruit. Good flavour, but not fully complex. Some fruity and spicey notes...but finishes quick. Full of carbonation, which is noticable from the first sip until you burp afterwards :) Worth a drink, but not one of my favourites...even in this category.

Slightly hazy golden colour with a little hint of orange. A very large bubbled white head which fades fast. Small bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass very often, which makes it look like a fine champagne. A definate yeasty smell, with not much else in the nose. A good medium bodied taste with noticable hoppyness. A good all-around beer, with some malt in the aftertaste. Definately worth a taste if you can get your hands on a bottle. Its a cheap beer up in the Northeast, so definately go for the deal!
